I got my belt drive from rc pit stop today. The only thing I had to do was file the burs where the set screws ended to go smothly on the shaft. Install was a piece of cake! Thank`s rc pit stop.100_0497.webp100_0499.webp100_0501.webp100_0502.webp

Awesome. Did you run into any problems with the cover? I was thinking about getting one and running the belt under the belt tensioner, it looks like there's plenty of clearance.
 
Not so far. I trimed the bottom of the cover and mounted it as high as it would go.

Is that a stock plastic gear plate? What exactly did you have to file?
 
Yes thats a stock gear plate. I had to file the burs left from the taping for the set screws on the two alum pulleys , this was done to allow the pulleys to slip on to the shafts easily.

Is I'm sure you already know the three shafts are not in a straight line. If you draw a line from the clutch bell shaft to the lay shaft, the center shaft is below the line. It is a longer path for the belt to follow on the other side. The belt is not long enough to run it on the top down to the bottom side of the tension pulley.

Burs? Sorry I am kinda noob :D I understand it has something to do with you slipping on the pulley easier.
 
When the factory taped the holes for the two set screws on each alum pully,it left burs on the inside of the pullys where the gear shafts go into the pulleys, thusly making the pulleys difficult to put on the shaft. So by fileing the burs off with a rat tail file the pulleys sliped right on easily.Burs are little pieces of metal left from a machineing process ie:drilling or taping a hole with threads. The front side will be clean no burs but the back side will have burs. The same thing acurs when sawing the edge of your material is ruf so you use a file to make it not ruf.This is what they mean when they say dress the material. I hope this sheds more light on burs.
