I have a couple of FG cars but notice the wheel spin on them are different maybe its the car type(version) i'm not sure as i am a semi-rookie to the sport. The 1st video is of the 07 fg. Notice when i spin the wheel by hand the opposite side wheel spins in the opposite direction also the none gear side wheel seem to free spin more than the one on gear side-is that normal or is something worn out. I notice it seems to loose grip alot easier than the gear side wheel also. click on photo to start video

2nd video is of the 08 Fg when i spin the wheels on the car, they both spin in the same direction as oppose to my 07 version. The wheel spin don't seem as loose on the 08 compared to the 07. click on photo to start video

if both wheels spin the same direction the diff in that car is locked or limited in slip. if they spin in opposite direction the diff is open. the locked or limited slip will transfer power to the ground better hence why less slip of 1 wheel reducing wheel spin
the latter model has a better diff.

its the way its designed, its not broken but doing what its supposed to. some use thicker grease in the diff to crete greater friction to moving gears adding a minor locking effect. or lock the diff solid with welding, like in a 1:1 or jamming it with something in the scale diff.

heres a couple of options for diffs:

Self Locking Diff (aka SLD): The more spin then the more it will lock
Adjustable diff: Allows you to set the amount of lock from 0% to 90%

i have just upgraded to an adjustable diff, gutta say, im very impressed, no more spin & much more grip :)
 
yeah i agree im running them both a fg 4 plate self locking adjustable in my bug and a fg adjustable 0-90% diff in my on road and there worth the extra money im going to swap them over and fit the 4 plate self locking one in to the on road as i think it will be better suited
