Hi Guys, I'm working on a plan with FG to give people a chance to have a cheap route into racing and to put some fun back into the sport. This is aimed at anyone who had, has or would like an rc car, basher and racers alike.

The plan is to race the FG Mini and Porsches sportsline 4wd cars. The idea is to race "out of the box" cars on one or two types of tyre with no modifications to the cars unless by "gentlemans agreement" on troublesome parts - all you need to do is paint the shell and add your radio gear.

I'm trying to get FG to do tyres cheap as chips to be in keeping with the spirit of the racing that is not "he who has the most toys wins" but "he who can do it cheapest wins". There will be trackside support at all the rounds from Nige at Freeprawn racing.

As you can see by the calendar, there are 6 meetings. I'm not 100% sure of the race fees but the car package will be £700 (subject to confirmation and the exchange rate) for the 2012 season. If you do 4 of the 6 meetings you will get £50 back. Every driver who races an FG 4wd car out of the box will get a parts prize. To get the series going we would need a minimum of 6 to 8 guys who are willing to travel to the meetings.

If the FG 4wd challenge cup is a success, there are plans for the 2013 season to have similar priced cars and for drivers to receive a "gift" of a pack of wish bones, hubs or something similar at every meeting they attend.

Confirmed ates for the FG 4wd challenge

2012 WLSC Calendar

Round 1 Halifax 28/29 April
Round 2 Wombwell 26/27 May
Round 3 Wombwell 23/24 June
Round 4 Wombwell 21/22 July
Round 5 Mendip 11/12 August
Round 6 Wombwell 22/23 September

Please let me have you thoughts but please keep them constuctive.

Cheers, Mike

That sounds a great idea and If I could guarantee constant work I would love to get involved but sadly for me this year is out of the question

I always loved racing the fixed price/modification classes as racing was always good and as you say the person with the deepest pockets didnt always win..

I would say to anybody who is thinking about it and can afford it to jump in as racing is another skill and so much more to be learnt above bashing.

I think it's one of the few ways to get people started on an even footing, everyone has the same car so it's all down to the drive and lady luck.

As a newbie I like the idea a lot if I wasnt heading to OZ for good in 3 weeks Id be up for this. always just too late

Thanks for the input, the idea is getting lots of good vibes and there are already 5 people who said they want to have a go.

I'll be ordering 4 cars the first week in April ready for the start of the series, if anyone is interested feel free to get in touch.
