I'm looking to get another 5th scale and was wondering if anybody knows if the fg 4x4 models are doing well. I'm concerned with the belt drive system and if it's holding up. Any help would be great, thanks!

Hi well i have one and up till now im happy with it no problems
but i would not expect that coming from fg or you could get you self a fs racing 4wd or redcat racing 4wd is also good these are the not the most expensive ones like mcd but they do have a mid engine for better balance fg sits to the back of the car so dose tend to pull wheels when driving but still fun

Thanks for the reply, I've owned a mcd but was wanting to try something different plus I've owned a couple of 2wd fgs but I've wanted to try the 4wd version. I like the new beetle that came out that has the baja wheels and tires on it and noticed DDM had them in stock. I'm not big on RTRs but I would replace the electronics anyways. If anybody else has feedback on the 4wds I would like to hear about it....good or bad.

I have the sportsline version and my friend has the comp version that I built. The belt holds up just fine. I use a 30.5ESP race ported in mine and it runs great. I bought it mainly for winter running since I also have a Elcon Cleon.

I use the smaller diameter wheels and gear it up more and find it handles better. Plan to go ut tomorrow for a bash with both. :cool2::cool2:

Hey pete, i have the fg baja rtr 4wd. love it. I have another one on lay away it'll be here by xmas. haven't had any problms with the drive belt so far. did try running it on a 60 ft high sand hill at a redy mix concrete mix factory. WHAT I DO THAT FOR? Any way after cleaning it out and some wd it was on again. It also lost radio contact once and ended up in a lake totaly submerged, but still going strong. i run a oneill 27/2 full mod with a vrc and jetpro. It's a killer buggy dude. you'll have to to do a lil dremling on the steering limiters. but my have held up so far, and i do neglect them.

Thanks for the reply guys, sounds like FG really did the R and D before they released these cars. I have been trying to learn alittle about them before I buy and this information truly helps. Hopefully in a couple of weeks once work slows down I'll get one....my biggest dilema is whether I want to go on or off road. I've always wanted a nice on road......Ahhhh....decsions.

hey lads i saw this on the web over here couldnt leave it so if any one wants a 4wd then mail this guy the guys in belgum

I know everyone says the belt holds up fine but is there anyone in the U.S. that sells the belts? I know DDM is a distributor for FG but I've heard that they don't sell the belts and you have to go through hobby shops in Europe for replacement. Just trying to do alittle research before I buy that's all.

Maybe FGsupply.com.

Pete I'm in the same boat as u. I really consdering getting the new 4wd beetle aslo. Just haven't been able to talk myself into pressing the button. Trying to deck out my first 5th before starting my basher project. I even thought about just converting my to 4wd but I wanna have a 2wd and a 4wd in my stable. Who knows time will tell what ill do.

Hobbytek or pitstop shop usually have my orders here in 5 days from overseas. usually fg supply / rc nuts or scott at large scale always have the stock parts tha i need.

Kausekaos, to answer your question I drive a pete 379, one of my favorite trucks of all time.

So does anybody know what hobbyteks web site is? I've never ordered from overseas before, is shipping real expensive?
