You should check its operation, if it feels "loose" and spins to easy, you need to add grease. If you have the standard diff. you will need grease and not fluid. You want the grease to provide lubrication and prevent your diff from unloading (Like when you do a donut and it looks cool because one tire is just spinning so fast, well its not good for your diff! Even if it is greased up!!!) There should be some resistance, like if it were filled with "Honey". So, elevate your chassis so the rear is off the ground, hold the diff with one hand so it can't rotate, then use your other hand and turn one tire, does not matter which side or direction. See how it feels, the other tire should counter rotate and it should feel a bit sticky. If it feels to easy, you need grease. Also those o-rings, can be lubed a little with plumbers grease (special Silicone) from Lowes or home depot, it displaces water and keeps them from drying out.
