Hi All,
Recently joined the forum, have a stock FG Baja 4WD.
Had a couple of runs so far and on the last run the layshaft brake came loose.
Whipped it off, checked it over and put back together but noticed the 2 x bolts that bring the plates together seemed to be screwed too far out (as set by factory). I have included a pic below, it's a bit poor quality but I hope you can see what i mean.

In my mind, i would have thought these would need to be screwed in giving just a little freeplay with the disk at neutral so it holds it roughly in position?
The brake disk had also come off of the square which was loose which is why the brakes seemed non-existent!
can anyone advise on this please?
Thanks

I do not have a Baja but the MT looks to be similar. If not then disregard and hopefully some of the 4wd guys will help.

Your right the brake square that came loose should have been blue locktighted from FG. Make sure it is tight against the bearing before tightening the grub.
The screws for the pads should be farther in then the photo shows. Adjust them to allow enough room for the pads to be free but not sloppy.

Thanks 'Bigger the Better' for the info.
I removed the brake assembly last night and put it back together as it should have been set up originally. have some brakes now which is a good thing!
