Hi All,

I have had a FG Beetle for about 3 years now, and it has been laid up for a while. I have decided to give it a ne leas of life!!

I have over time added a tune pipe, hydraulic brakes, Ally bits and bobs.

I need your guys help please. My beetle currently has standarb body fixed to the black 'tub' (excuse my ignorance) Can i get rid of the 'tub' and fix the body some other way?

I hope I have made sense. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Darren

this is how i did mine
rc016.jpg
i used 3mm ally plate and the original fixing holes on the chassis
am using the monster beetle shell so i can mount mine quite low
with the beetle off road shell the arches restrict how low the shell
can be mounted unless you fit road tyres

Thanks Guys

I thought I had everything sorted today. Finished the total strip, clean and re-build, only need a new diff cover. Decided I would go for a Marder body to ease the complication of fitting the tatty bettle shell with the dreaded tub.

Do you think I could find a stockist in the UK, trawled the net, phoned several companies no joy!!

Who do you guy's recommend for FG Spares

For parts I can't get local I use Krikke Racing. They are in the Neitherlands. Check out the UK Ebay as well. There are always lots of stuff there. If you don;t want your Beetle tub I'd put ti up for sale too. New they are pretty expensive!

Is the pipe just mounted by that piece of ally? If so you will have problems with it snapping or splitting.I used an oversized jubilee clip around the body of the pipe and around the left hand side of the cage(I'll put some pics up later) It will save the strain on the front of the pipe.

It Is Finished (for Now)

Look forward to seeing your pictures voo2doo.

I must say since getting back into this hobby I am really disappointed at the service offered by the supposed parts specialist stores.

The lack of stock is amazing or do you guys keep breaking your cars too quickly:clown: and the lack of knowledge / advice I have found shocking.

When I ordered the marder body (they knew I was converting a beetle), I asked 'is there anything else I need' no was the answer. Didn't get any window grilles.

When I ordered the window grilles (after waiting a week for the body) I asked 'is there anything else I need' no was the answer. Didn't get any fixing clips though. Good job I have got a sense of humor.

So what next?? 4 wheel drive
