I have the plug version of the FG big power pipe and need to replace the o-rings. The problem is that I can't seem to fit the factory FG rings into place. Is there a trick to this?

Detail:
The big power pipe requires three components; the manifold, main exhaust chamber, and the muffler pipe. Where the main chamber connects to the manifold, there are two small o-rings that fit inside recessed slots. This creates a seal when slid over the smaller manifold pipe. The respective part # for the pipe set is 7404 and the 0-rings are part of 7404/03. I've tried heating the rubber o-rings, using a lubricant, and anything else to force them in to the grooves without success.
