Whats the best reciever battery I can use for my FG MT?

Ive just gone through my third receiver battery I think. The plates/cable that connect the cells together keep breaking. I don't realise this and keep charging it thinking my charger is playing up which it does, only charges one cell and because it doesn't take many mah I keep charging it until one of the cells let go.

I want a receiver battery that doesn't break the plates/cabling between the cells.

i use this place for my packs clicky 9th pack down... £18 4300mah ..ive had packs from here for the past couple of years for both my reciever & transmitter, never any probs :)

Also if you contact them & ask nicely! they will fit any connector(s) you wish instead of the Tamiya one :)

thanks for the info guys ill check out the links now.

the cells are solidly shrink wrapped together, i don't know why they are doing what they are doing, only thing I can put it down to is vibration but it doesn't seem to be happening to anyone else???

I've never had the issue. Are you electrical taping your battery to the battery holder? Make sure it is taped real well in the two areas and it should ride along with the vibration.

thanks mate, im trying to test the cells now to see if one has let go, wiring between the cells looks intact, if its not a cell then it must be a radio/receiver problem which I hope is not the case.

I cut off part of a duratrax battery tray as it is plastic so extra protection against the chassis. it held the battery fairly firm on bottom and used dense foam to fill the gap above it to the strap thing. I charge with the battery in... mind you I don't use nmh anymore either ;).

yeah bit of foam might be do the trick, im going to discharge the batter tonight and keep an eye on it, see how quick it discharges and that should tell me if one of the cells have had it.

Oh ya, forgot. I do use a piece of foam insulation tape on my battery back. It is 11/2" wide and under a 1/4" thick. It pinches it tight between the tank.

well I feel like an idiot! after all this battery talk I did some testing last night and it aint the battery playing up! Damn, hoping it was coz now I have to try and troubleshoot the receiver.

Gave it a discharge last night and it dropped voltage very slowly which tells me its holding volts. Did a charge and it registered full @ 7.4 volts so thats a good sign also. Also the wire connecting the cells together are in tact.

Got a spare spektrum reciever so might put that in over the weekend and see how I go.
