fg gearing question

does anybody know if i change clutch and spur gears from 18/46 to 22/42 will i need a different gear carrier as these seem to be bigger as a set, and the 42t gear has a bigger centre hole than the 46 so will i also need a different gear holder?(the back wheel for the gear which has 4 holes to attatch the the gear, thanks. as you can tell i don't really know what all the proper parts are called.
 
its the spur gear you are changing from 46 to 42, and its the gear carrier you are refering to, yes you will need the carrier to suit the 42t spur gear.
 
You'll need a 52mm gear carrier to run a 42tooth spur, .. part #7050

though you've said the 42 you have has a bigger hole centre, sounds like you've got a 2 speed one, which have their own special carrier (is that the one with the one way bearing in? i forget.. :blink: )

do you run a 2 speed? if not I think you'll need a single speed gear.. part#7052
