Hi folks,

Ive recently got hold of a 10 year old FG Marder which is in need of either a new set of shocks, or rebuilt shocks.

Could anyone recommend or suggest anywhere i can buy a full set of replacement shocks ready to install? Ive seen plenty of parts about for rebuilding shocks but im not sure ive got the relevant know how to do it myself!

Thanks,

Tom

Tom, I'd suggest SEARCH shocks on this Forum to get some ideas, then also look on Ebay.

They're pretty tough and spares are available.
Hobbythek in Germany is an excellent source of spares as/when required.
Pitstop in Holland also.

Al.

Thanks renbar I'll have a look now. Ive got the standard shocks with the red casing. When you push down on the suspension it doesn't return fully. Think they've lost their oil its been sat for over 5 years.

Cheers for the links dwarfy much appreciated. The cheaper ones come pre filled with 500 oil, would you say that was too thin?

Just one more question, which springs would you recommend?

Thanks again.

Difficult one on the oil, all manufacturers differ with their grades so I cant really compare it to the FG oil in mine. I would say try it first and see how it goes. Spring wise it depends on where you run but a medium spring is as good a starting point as any.....

id still look on ebay for a set even if it means new seals as long as there not bent and battered you'll be fine im sure I gave @£40-£50 for mine but that was about 3-4 years ago now,,

Ive just ordered the GPM alloy shocks and offroad tuning red springs. I like the fact that they come pre assembled with oil and they are cheaper than a second hand set of FG shocks.

Thanks for all your help guys ill let you know how i get on with them when they arrive!

I got a pair of 20mm ally fg rears given the other week off my mate! I needed a set of rears for the front of the 4wd and he had a spare pair and wouldnt take anything for them. Happy days!
