What sort of brakes do you have? If its the stock layshaft brake then other than checking the linkage is good there isnt a lot you can do (assuming you have some life left on the pads). Its poor at best. You can upgrade this to a tuning brake which it pretty good and it will lock the wheels up. Cable brakes will need the cables adjusting to get the right balance to each wheel. All of these need a min 15kg torque servo to get decent results from.

Good strong throttle/brake servo - best is Savox 1256TG as compromise price/power - to get better you pay 20% more.
Servo tray BENDS if it's plastic. You can add bracing or replace with an alloy or C/Fibre one.
Check the brake rod - is it adjusted tightly? Rest position can SLIGHTLY bind.
Perhaps the nitro tubing is worn/broken?
