You've got one hell of a 'bash site' mate.
Defo needs someone else to hold the camera, to give an idea of speed.
Always a bit scary, screaming headlong into the trees, to turn at the last minute.
Good effort - we need more !!

nice one gaz, got the pm mate, they are ok until you replace with better ones,i got a brand new alloy spur ,46 gear for free yesterday off troy from msuk at newark bash, top lad!yes 48mph with 44/20 ,try tuning carb, should have a bit more with 44/20, should give 52mph if you have the power, you would have defo toped 50mph if you had your jetpro.with 24/40 and moster truck wheels you would need a ported motor to get the top speed and get to top revs, about 64mph
with a 29cc engine ,jetpro i could get 54mph,with nobblies which are lighter then mt wheels.22/40 is the highest i can use,54mph, i cant even pull 24/40,not enough power,i loose speed because of that!

I've been considering getting a 1:5 scale FG Monster Beetle and I'm wondering if there's any spare parts I might need to consider getting while I'm placing the order? Spur gears, turnbuckles, etc? Also, if you have something else that's better that I might consider then I'd like to know that too!!! OK, and one last thing, does the tuned pipe really make that much of a difference and is there one better than the FG?

Your best bet is to read other posts on this Forum.
Specific parts list? Good question.
Most parts can require replacement in time, with rolls, bashes, or general wear.
If you haven't already, all change the plastic engine mounts for alloy.
Wearing - most end up with metal pinion and spur gears.
Do you have the Beetle already, do you have one in mind, or are you just thinking of a purchase?

There are those who just select some parts to 'upgrade', and keep the rest plastic, as they'll break or bend anyway, like arms and hubs.

Always reinforce the servo tray mount or replace with alloy or carbon fibre as the standard plastic ones flex.
If you drive hard, the steering servo will take a hit from time to time, so prepare a budget for servos ....

Is the FG Monster the best? Depends where you are, but parts availability is generally excellent should you require them.

Wheels - always ensure they're well mounted as they can 'round' eventually. There are various ways of limiting this.

It's your call.

Thanks gary I've now got a adj alloy diff all metal gears alloy engine mounts alloy top rear arms alloy adj rear shocks 29cc zen and jetpro also got a dechoked carb only just run in with about 4 tanks now, would u recommend playing with the carb or leaving it as it is? If u suggest tuning it how would I do that and which way do I turn the H and L needle clockwise or anti clockwise? Any info on how to keep the lay gear in one place as it keeps coming loose? My dad reckons that we put some paint on the end of the grub screws and then where it leaves a mark on the layshaft get a drill bit and drill alittle indent in it then screw up the grub on to the little indent and that will stop it from moving what do u think?

sound nice mate and ye play about with the carb have a look there a couple of threads on here about tuning carbs
as for the layshaft gear are you lining the flat spots on the shaft with the grub screws if so just put abit of thread lock on the grub screws works for mine

Gary could u please tel me about this red spring 8k clutch what are the benefits where can I get it and roughly how much? Also am I right in thinking that all walbro carbs without a choke are for high performance? And are they 19mm as there is no choke and that the carbs with a choke are 12mm? Sorry if it's abit of a silly question but am still lacking experience at the mo

hi mate im still a newbie myself mate and don't really no much about carbs as for the red spring there on ebay for about 7 quid and its hard to explain its sort of turbo likeish if you get what i mean, ill do a vid of my 2 cars to show you what i mean, but i will try to explain my MT has a red spring and my marder dosent but when they set off at the same time the marder has instant full power and shoots off were as the MT sets of quite slow but soon as the red spring kicks in its like a turbo an it picks up and flys past my marder but its up to personal taste if you fit one or not

Right I think I get ya,if u happen to see on eBay could u copy and paste the item number please, have u done anything to your clutch bell to stop it making a rattling noise if so what did u do? Have u changed your rear brake on the mt or is it stock still? Was wondering on what kind of upgrade to use as I ain't got the dollar for hydro brakes
