Hi ,

I am going to order a FG Monster Beetle Pro. But the distributor got 2 versions: one is FG monster Beetle Pro, and the other is HT edition.

The HT edition come with the following spare parts but cost about US$110 more:
1. aluminum differential conversion kit
2. reinforced differential tube
3. alloy spur gear carrier
4. alloy engine mount, large
5. alloy engine mount, small
6. two hardened steel pinion
7. additional 14-piece sealed ball bearing set

Just wondering what would everybody here consider the HT edition? Is it worth it?

And else, what would you guy consider to be the essential things to change/modify to make the Monster Beetle Pro more reliable if I choose the HT edition?

Your recommendation will be highly appreciate!!

Many thanks for your reply.
I am listing the ordering of my first Monster Beetle Pro (HT), my list as follow:
FG Monster Beetle Pro 2WD , HT edition
No RTR
Ball drive
G270
Tractor tires
No Wheelie-Bar
Stock front suspension
alloy gear plate and brake caliper
standard front uprights (plastic)
standard rear uprights (plastic)
standard rear suspension(plastic)
standard brake
But since I change the Engine to a little powerful one(the stock engine is Zenoah G260RC), do I need to upgrade the gear or something for better durability?

really appreciate it!!
So I update the list of my first Bettle Pro as follow:
FG Monster Beetle Pro 2WD , HT edition(RTR)
Zenoah G270RC
alloy gear plate and brake caliper
1/5 Scale Pull Starter Cover For All CY, Zenoah, and Smartech Motors
1/5 Scale Crankcase & Flywheel Cover For All CY, Zenoah, Motors
Outerwears Pre-Filters - Universal fit for 1/5 Scale Filters

Would this be enough for the Beetle Pro?

That should do you for now mate, unless you have some deep pockets and start upgradeing to alloy hubs, then alloy radio tray and front hydro brakes, the list goes on and on.

Brad.

Thank you for the reply. 2 of my friends got HPI baja 5B here, they buy upgrade part quite a ofter (Pipe, alloy gear, tuned engine, etc.), I think that confuse me. I consider my first Beetle Pro will not last a week if I don't upgrade some parts.

Anyway, many thanks for your recommendation, I will buy the Beetle Pro with the covers you guys recommended first and get back to you with my thought and questions.

the pro comes in 2 flavours, the stock (mostly plastic which is the one i got, although now has a fair bit of alloy thats ive hopped up myself!) & the comp version, which is already hopped up with 99.9% alloy...at a price! :)

only difference between the pro & normal monster beetle is extra shocks & alloy side panels, afaik the rest is pretty much exactly the same under the shell :)
