Fg monster beetle , what gears???

Hi I've got a standard 26 cc beetle with monster wheels, it's running 16, 48 gears, is this correct? Cheers

16 48 is good. Fg gears should add up to 64 so u got no problems

If you've a plastic spur - larger gear - then only have a plastic or alloy pinion.
If the pinion is steel, then the spur must be as well, to limit chewing the gears away.

That's what most say.

Personally, I have steel/steel on my FG MT, and alloy pinion, delrin spur on my 1/5.

yes that correct gearing for the fg vehicles using large monster truck tyres.

or layshaft and pinion?

thats different, the engine can be moved slightly ,slotted chassis but after a 17lay shaft gear you will need to dremel the engine casing. also if you use a bigger layshaft without reducing the diff gear by 2 teeth or more you will have to dremel the diff brace too.
