the covers will keep out any bits of crap from your gears

but it will also not let any cold air get to the gears:2guns:so they

will get hot....if using plasic gears with a cover on the gears have

been known to melt:clown:

thats why i made my own out of stainless steel

I have a plastic cover & no problems so far with the gears. Im running a plastic spur (i think  the big 1.....I always get em mixed up :clown:) & its still as good as new. No complaints here :)

dwarfy you musn't be running them hard enough:clown::clown:

and no puns plz on at least they get to run ...LOL

Both of my gears are metal. So you are saying that if I put a plastic gear cover on, it will not allow the gears to cool down??

I have a python motors billet gear cover on my Baja and no problems with it. Why would a plastic gear cover cause over-heating?

The gears will be ok. The problem is that if its not completely enclosed like the Baja then what goes in may not be able to come out. What hits the metal gears without the case will bounce off. I bash in gravel and class 5 all the time and still have the same gears with no wear.;)

With a plastic spur gear (Large one) and jumping or rough riding the top A arm will twist into the plastic spur and strip it out. Its mostly the tires fault.:(
