hi guys :)

ok atm i have an FG Monster (Beetle Pro)

im gunna start a lil project..

I want to be able to use the Marder shell on a monster chassis using the bigfoot rims/tires & want the marder shell to sit properly like it owuld on a normal marder.. i also want to keep the dual shock setup thats used on monsters.

I know the rear end is fine & don't need touching the problem (or project!) will be the front end.

So far this is what ive come up with:

What id need to remove & reaplace:

Remove:
Monster Alloy Side plates > Marder side rails or will make my own custom side plates
Monster front part of roll cage > will probbly try & make it fit but doubt it will as the front of marder shell is very low compared to monster shells
Monster Shock Tower > Marder one
Monster Shocks > smaller marder type
Monster bulk head > Marder one
Im thinking if i just replace the monster shock tower & bulk heads with the smaller marder ones, will the monster wishbones fit onto this? if so then im guessing all i need then is the smaller shocks?

ive got some marder bulkheads & shock mount + metal brace on its way (picked em up for £18 shipped!) ..so time will tell but just want any info on this that someone mihgt have already tried etc :)

any info on this appreciated!

i want to do it so i don't have change too many things so i can switch between the 2 (monster/marder) as & when i please!
:)

p.s .. ive already tried the monster rims & tires on a stock marder a while back & they fit fine with no binding/rubbing on shell etc :)

How about another, easier solution .... ?

There are quite a few Marders cropping up on Ebay from time to time, and generally, relative to their original price, they're dirt cheap.

Why don't you save your MB and simply purchase a used Marder.

Failing that, get a reasonably one and use it for parts for Plan A.

Al.

i don't have room :( i did have a marder but got rid simply cuz of space :( so a second largescale at present is a no go.

Like i say though im gunna give this ago & hopefully i'll have the 2 of them just by switching a few bits as & when :)

ive got most the parts already, on there way to me! (except for the smaller shocks which im gunna need 4 of) but should get them on ebay used for about £30 so wudda cost me less then £50 (just under $60) in total :)

scrap the whole idea and have a marbug mate you know it makes sense they look the best as well,i wouldn't have mine any other way now its running hpi style wheels its a great setup come on join the marbug club

Can you not just remove the rails from the cage that tie into the front end? I thought the basic roll cage was the same for all models except for add on's such as these. Also thought the bulkhead A & B parts were the same? As for the side rails, I would put a wanted add on here and MSUK. Voo may still have some FG parts kicking around in his cave!!

aye thats what im gunna do, the rear end of roll cage is same on both marder/monster its only the front rails of roll cage that are on the monster that can be removed, but i wanna try keep them but i would have to do a bit of custom stuff to make them fit cuz they would need to be lowered.

I know what ya saying about marder bug! ...but i love the monster rims/tires! ...even though i do bounce around the track like a fkin ping-pong ball on acid! :D

guess what im gunna end up with is a Monster Marder \o/ lol ...i like to be..... different! :D

hmm i always thought the bulk heads were diff sizes on marder/monster!? ..iu fkin hope so cuz just bought a marder 1 lol... about a tenner though for both A+B ... gunna look it up now ^^

ok just looked it up looking at the exploded diagrams...

the front bulkhead piece is the same part number but when i goto hobbythek & look up the part number for the alloy pieces, they are different part numbers for the monster & marder bulkhead & the monster one does look slightly taller!? confusing :(

yeh i seen that too like a square with cross members on it, but on the fg manual for the marder race it not on there, but i htink ya right about the size, think they are same size, i made another post on RCU as well to see if anyone else might know about the size diff, cuz if they are same size then i will contact the lad & ask him to swap the bulk head for 2x shocks instead as hes selling them at same price but hes posting them tmrw so i need to know asap! lol :(

id do it now then mate theres no difference im sure on mine i run alloy ones but im using 2 b bulkheads off a on road cause the a bulkhead was broken and it come with the 2 b's and broken a but it still fits ok only thing i can think it changed on mine was the angle the pins go through been like from day 1
