Hi there check head bolts, spark plug, fuel lines, filters, take plug out check for a good spark to eliminate that clean air filter to eliminate that check for loose nuts and bolts on the carb check the bulb is filling with fuel try all that and let me know. I'm new to this also but after the couple of days I've had with fg monster truck I'm learning fast trust me.:)

+1 on all that.
Add check the electrical connections, and the battery charges - Rx and Tx.

Ok u might need to check the electrics like Atom said, then maybe check fuel supply and then it maybe carb off time, but before you do that try putting a tiny amount of fuel in the head then put the plug in and pull it, or take airfilter off and spray some fuel into the back of the carb and pull to see if it makes it fire. This is what I did and it worked for me and seemed to try and fire, but as soon as the fuel had evaporated it would fire again making it seem like there was a problem with the carb a possible blockage, so then stripped down the fidderly carb cleaned out, put it back together tried again and still nothing!! After looking on here at coil and spark plug gap sizes I realised that my coil gap was 10mm instead of .3 to .4 so when user about changing that,
That's when I realised that my head was loose and so I tightened it up, did the Colin gap and plug and pulled it and it started to fire up again Whoop Whoop!!
But still wouldn't run (tick over) then realised due to my lack of experience that I should have checked the head gasket before tightening up the head, only thought of this after I saw fuel leaking out the bottom of the head after I'd been trying to start it!! Went about stripping it down again when I came to undo the head bolts again I realised that one of the head bolts was barely finger tight and I had tightened them both just a few moments ago, anyway took head off only to find the head had cracked !!! And when I took off the head there was still some of the head attached to the bottom part of the engine, so that was the problem after all of the pain staking, head itching, blisters apering and a couple of mini rows with the old man. So now need a new engine hope this little essay helps you in some way

just had the carb off nd cleaned it everything there is fine gaskets ect sparkin really good so put bit petrol dwn the head still wont fire up

its dry m8 the carb is workin correct i think mabe be a piston ring puttin hand over the exhaust nd theres not alot of compression there but there is wen pulling it

If the plug is dry then carb not working correctly, cause the fuel
Must come from the carb to the plug for the spark to ignite it, so it should be abit wet, sounds like carb trouble to me,if it doesn't fire at all and u say that u have a good spark and that the plug is dry it's starving it's self of fuel, try agin putting fuel directly into the open carb through the air filter hole and whilst your plug is in the head just give the spark plug lead a little push towards the cap that sits on top of the plug just to make sure it hasn't come loose some how, cause even tho u said you have a good spark whilst it's out of the head, by the time u move the lead and put it back on if it is loose it might not be getting a proper connection and then not sparking in the head which u won't see, after that start pulling until it makes a firing noise, might be anything from 2 to 5 or 6 pulls so be patient. If it does fire for alittle while and then stops firing then the fuel u put directly into the carb would have used up and that would indicate that u may have a blockage somewhere in the carb or u may have the same problem as I did which was a cracked head!! Check round the bottom of your engine to see if there's any residue near the fuel tank and or the other side of engine, if there is then you may have a blown head gasket or loose head bolts or cracked head. Let me know

[hi m8 cheers for the info i have put bit of petrol threw the filter still no joy there is bit of oil on the bottom of car but think its cumin from the exhaust just. ave just orderd a new engine so all pop the old 1 owt nd have a good look

Hi mate I'm in Essex, I've just had my new engine arrive today(YEH)a 29cc zenoah from Rossmods via talking to a very helpfull bloke by the name of SteveO, he has helped me right out with info and abit of discount aswell,no at the mo I'm abit confused as I also got a proper FG airfilter as recommend by him as they are so much better than the K&N filter as they stop all of the tiny particles getting in that does the
Most damage to the engine. But the stock filter has the choke attached to it and when I change it to the FG filter there's no where for it to go! So will it start aswell without it and is it ok not to have a choke or not? What I might do is leave the stock one on whilst running in the new lump and then change it after and see what happens. In the mean time he has also advised me to upgrade to alloy engine mounts as a important must have as with the amount of power it will rip the platsic ones and cause lots of problems with gears etc. The mounts are pretty expensive but will save u penny's in the long run,he has also told me to do away with the two speed box that I've got a go for single speed and to change spur and clutch to 44/20 for more fun and hopefully sum wheelie action (lol) so I'm bidding on mounts and steel gears as we spk,if u need the number for Rossmods let me know, where u from fella?
