Just thought id share with you all a modifcation me and Rossco did over the long weekend with my FG MT.
Got tired of layshaft gear stripping all the time. So upgraded to alloy engine mounts and built new bracket that holds the diff housing to large engine mount. Much thicker, original was badly worn.
Fitted a 18t (original being 14t) layshaft gear taken from smartech thunderbolt. This doesn't fit unless you gring a small amount off crankase, doesn't need much only a couple of mm. Also engine needs to go to its furthers point allowed foward.
Result is no more wheelies but massive gains in top end. Not to mention this gear is $12 online here compared to $30+ for the genuine FG 14t.
