Hey guys, I took the MT out today for a speed check. I have an ESP 30.5cc with a Dom High End pipe and Walbro 813 carb with new 18/46 gears and hit 48mph/80kmh on radar today. This new ESP 30.5cc motor has so much torque that it has no problem spinning the tires on the pavement. I would like to reduce the off the line wheel spin with just a good take off.

I would like to try a set of 20/44 gears with the stock mt tires and was wondering if anyone has already ran these gears and how fast my top end would be?

My buddy has an HPI baja with a 27.2 Case Reed and is pulling 54-55mph and he passes me up when I start getting close to top speed.

Any other ideas for this beast of a motor? Hills.

You have a completely different beast from a Baja. Tie them together and you will pull him all over the place. But for speed the baja is set up.
You could try out the gearing in plastic and see how you like it. That way you do not have a bunch of money into the gears before you try them out.
I cant imagine the 30.5 having problems with taller gears.

Im going to our local hobby shop to buy the set of 20/44 gears and looks like I need a new gear carrier and bearings while im at it. If they don't have them im going to place an order with ddm today. I was thinking the same that if that 30.5 can smoke the hell out of the 18/46 on pavement that it should pull 20/44 on grass no problem and yes Bigger, plastic is a good idea. Pipeous I may need a new clutch after all said and done. But hey that part of the hobby or money pit!! Till later, Hills....
