Hi all,
Well I have made my decision on what my next toy is going to be. Couldnt decide between a HPI Baja, Baja clone, FG MT or a thunderbolt.

I have decided to go for the FG MT. Ive done a fair bit of research and it appears the FG MT is quite durable out of the box.

The zen 26cc appears to be quite powerful in stock but I plan to fit a tune pipe ASAP and maybe down the line do a mild port and polish.

I should be placing an order via DDM later today, so should get it in around 3 weeks. I will do a bit of investigating on what steering/ throttle servo's to use, prolly go for a couple of hitecs or something.

Cant Wait!!! :)

hiya mate :)

bet ya cant wait!

there are jus a couple of things you should get from the word go...

alloy servo horns
steel pinion gear
alloy carrier

those 3 (imo) are a must

also think about...

gear protector
outerwears filter & pullstart cover

feel free to check my website out dude (url in my sig) it will give you plenty of info about hop ups & tips etc for fg monsters :)

as for servos
for the steering i use a multiplex rhino & for throttle/brake multiplex power speed :)

I run a 26 in both my off roaders. just cy's not the zens but they go good with a tuned pipe. the duratrax gear cover is cheap and fits. Tizdaz has all the main things covered. I also like having front brakes on all my rides.

Thanks for the info guys, why is the outwears so important?

As long as my filter is oiled and not too dirty why do I need a filter over a filter?

Im very new to FG and large scale in general.

It was mentioned I upgrade the pinion gear and carrier, can I get some more info on these, what they do and located etc if thats ok?

Thanks again guys :)

outerwears is like tent material. helps keep water out too if you hit a puddle. extra protection is always good for the $12 they cost. has to be a reason near everyone uses them.

oh ya, and check out the mesh mod tip as well. that's a cheap easy fix. and upper rear arms in alloy help too (forgot to mention) to keep flex from happening

hmm not too sure, but if it were me, id do stock then just slap on your tuned pipe afterwards & let rip.

a tuned pipe adds much more power, when breaking in your new engine, you don't want to have lots of power as you wanna gently break in your engine :)
