Im running the stock plastic front uprights on my FG, I did a clean the other day and noticed the front wheels are not spinning as freely as they used to. The still spin for a little when off the ground but they had hardly any resistance up until now.

I have had to adjust the square alloy block the wheels secure on a few times because the studs come loose. Ive also tightened the two bolts that secure the upper and lower arms to the uprights.

Do you think it not spinning as free as it used to is going to put more load on the engine or as usual am I worrying about nothing?

there should be a spacer inside between the bearings. take the bearings out and spray with carb clean and spin until smooth again... maybe your wheel has tightened the dust cover on the bearing in as well?

don't forget to file the bottom of those grub screws flat and I use red loktite on drivline grubs

do you mean remove the bearing from the hub? or can I just spray them while mounted in the hub?

yeah I use red loctite on that sort of stuff, blue for everything else though.

i think it may be the square block thing that holds the wheel might be rubbing on the side of he bearing.

I want to try and get one more run in before I go away comping tommorow.

have you:nono: had the drive square off and put it back the wrong way round

Were they installed wrong from the start? Make sure the ring is pointing toward the bearing. Take some WD-40 and put it in a small container. Put the bearing in the container and shake it until the WD-40 is dirty in color. Take an air compressor and blow the bearing out real good. Then regrease the bearing with grease. If you can get the bearing shield off thats the best way to do it. Ypu can also use an old tooth brush.

I find that you should install the screws in the upright prior to installing the bearings. Or, get the lock tight down the hole and in the metal ring that is in the center of the upright. If you put lock tight on the screw the plastic will remove the lock tight before it gets into the metal ring.

The grubs on the front should not be a problem? The rears are a problem.

All good now, one of the squares WAS the wrong way around (embarrased). I don't remember ever taking the squares out which is string. The ring is now closer to the uprights than the tire which I think is the right way around.

They spin nice and freely now.

Didnt get a chance to take it out last night :( and im about to leave for camping so wont be able to use it for the next 4 days. At least I know when I come back to it its ready for action straight away.
