hi, im getting a brand new 2wd fg mt this week with no radio gear,

and will be useing a hitec 5755mg servo for steering and was going to use a ace1015 servo for throttle/brake but the ace servo costs nearly double the price of the hitec 5755mg  so was wondering if it would be possibly to fit a hitec 5755 for the throttle?

has anyone done this? if so can you post pics:w00t:

itt would need a big hole cut into the throttle servo side i cant realy see the point have you looked at savox servos ive been using one in my fg for nearly a year now cost me about £60 inc p+p but its got a ton of power 20kg pull it runs my throttle and rear hydo brake plus my front cables so will be more than upto the job in your mt plus do you realy want to cut up youre radio tray then the hitec standard size throttle brake servos will be upto the job there about £30 from ebay

well i can get a hitec 5755mg servo new for £42... and the ace1015 or savox cost roughly £60-£70, which imo is alot.

i got the idea from my old mcd race runner.. which had a 1/4 servo set up

youve just brought a brand new fg mt another £60 aint going to hurt plus you aint got to use a savox or ace servo you can get a hitecstandard sized one for about £30 on ebay this will work fine

no i havant brought the truck yet.. will have it by end of the week. im asking if anyone has done the mod to put a 1/4 size servo for t/b as im playing with ideas! i don't need someone to tell me another £60 aint going to hurt!!!!!

you've got no imput about the subject so ill wait and see what other people think

I think your raidio tray will be very weak and flimsy after you cut it for a bigger servo. Its already weak and bendy and not much room to do it.You may need a alloy tray to hack up for that to work.

i would think it would not work as the 1/4 scale servo is to deep as it would

be on the other way round to the steering servo:p

K....

Its not £60 more mate cos he is already thinking of spending £42 on the Hitec so in real terms it only £18 more - equivalent to 4 pints & a takeaway  I know what you mean tho......£18 is not worth the hassle of cutting the tray, adjusting the linkages to suit, slower response speed etc. I would go with the Savox or Ace as you recommend :cool2:

that would be silly puting a 1/4 servo on the crappy plastic tray.. for a start it wouldnt fit on the plasic tray. i want to do it on a metal radio tray :P

depends if you want to start upgrading, i know a forum member of OSLF DC2MAN, he runs a 5755 for throttle/brake, im sure he could help you if you wanted to go down that line. radio tray would need to be strengthened though.

Alloy engine mounts and alloy servo tray are the 2 first 'hop ups' people consider.
I use Rhinos for steering and Savox 1256TG for Throttle/Brake. You can get the Savox for £52 if you shop around.

+1 on the mounts there are a must in my opinion, not so much the radio tray though. it does help but not necessary like the mounts. steel spur is quite important too.

Keep with the standard size.IMO The larger servo will be slower and you will notice it and think its your radio.
I personally will not go cheap in the electronic area. Its your Achilles heal if it goes bad.
I spent well over $100 on each of my models throttle brake servos. It and your radio are the highest runaway reasons.
If your using it for brake as well as throttle make sure it a real good high torque servo too.
