Tryin to understand why my fg only has 4 shocks, its the monster hummer 4wd,makes me wish i bought mt instead,or do all fg's come with 4 stock, broke plastic gear and wondering what size i should get.had a 48,can i get more teeth more torque?if i get metal should i expect diff probs?thinking of 2 speeds, but keep hearing layshaft probs.seen 3 speed prototype and waiting to hear if its reliable.probably insanely fast!im a bigscale newbie so learnin how to fix em faster than i break em!

not sure about shocks mate...but yeah more teeth more acceleration...less top end...And only realy want 2 speed if onroad racing...Not realy any good for off road...L.s.d Limited slip diff for off road is cool!!!!!

If you have a FG 4WD truck, you will have 4 shocks.
2WD trucks have 8 shocks.

8 doesn't mean its better than 4 or vise versa. Its all about the set up and the shock oil weight you use and the application you are going to use it for.

thanks for insight.whats the most teeth i can get for torque?do i have to change small gear,is that the spur gear?can get 46 teeth but lose topend, was runnin 48 till i shreaded it.

So true. In the 8 shock set up we have to change out the shock oil way thinner to be satisfying. Some just take 4 off and keep the stock oil and that does the same thing.;)

Stay with the 48T. You will have to change out the pinion as well if changing gears. If you have not mounted a new pipe on your rig, that is where you will start. Gearing is done last IMO. Change over to metal will eliminate the gear spinning/grinding. IMO, I hate plastic in the gear trane and have never run it.

This may help a bit on terminology. Its 2wd though.
