FG MT Steering Problem - Pls Help

Just took my MT out for a quick bash, went off a jump and landed on the LHF Wheel and the steel rod which acts as a steering stopped got jammed inbetween the two suspension arms. I removed the rod and put it back where its supposed to be but not the steering is only moving a few mm left and right.

What could be the problem? I don't know if its internal in the servo or could something have gone wrong with the servo saver or something?
 
Use your feet to hold the wheels straight and using the radio steering go left-right and see + listen to what happens. Listen for and gringing noise in the steering servo area.see if the servo moves the wheels or not. You might have stripped servo gears or stripped gears on your arms. Lets hope its the arms(cheaper to replace).
 
thanks nitro. I didnt use my feed but did put it flat on ground and tried to turn the wheels using the radio. it only turns a couple of mm. no unusual noises. based on this I don't think its the servo but I could be wrong.

could something have gone wrong with the servo saver to cause this kind of a problem?
 
I also had this issue. The arm wedged between the aluminum stop and the arm. I can't imagine what type of slam it took to get there. The servo did pop on me. I sent it in and they replaced the board. It tried to center so bad it burned out.
Hopefully what has happened is that you stripped out the servo horn. If its the plastic one you may have saved your servo. If not then take the servo out and see if the horn moves.

Now there is one other item that could have broken. There is a rod that runs the center of the servo saver. This rod can snap at the bottom and create a bunch of play in the turning.

jeez ive got a feeling that might have happened to mine, burnt out the board I mean. It took me a bit to run over, turn off the engine, saw problem, then turned off receiver battery. so it was trying to centre for prolly a good 60 seconds if not longer.

ill find out tonight, maybe remove the back and have a look at the circuit board.

I just pulled the back of the servo out, its totally fried. Circuit board is black.

Where in Oz is there a good place to get one from? HS5745MG I cant afford the rhino right now otherwise I would go for that one.

I just picked up a HS5755MG locally. Ill start installing it tonight, hope that doesn't happen again anytime soon.

Would I be fair in saying even if I was running a DIGI4 and that steering stop got stuck it would have still fried?
 
well better it happened to a $100 servo than a $200 servo.

I put the new HS5755MG in last night. Noticed as soon as I opened the box the output gear that attaches to the horn is heaps bigger with bigger more sharper splines. Luckily it came with a heap of nylon gears and a good alloy one which is what I used.

Installed it all put it together, took it to the track and realised when I centred the steering I didnt centre the trim, so ive got great turning one way and crap the other. Goiong to have to pull the horn off again LOL.

Ah well at least now I know everything is working.
 
Unsure if you know already - sorry if you do

But it's Hit-tec that make Rhino, only difference is that they use better bearings and gears in the rhino servo but doubt that accounts for double the price :rolleyes:
 
Man that sucks when you burn up a good servo, I've done that one to many times, glad to see your back up and running.
 
thanks mate, yeah I was real angry at myself for frying that servo, $90 a pop hurts the wallet. :nono:

but these things happen so no biggie I guess. just have to turn my brain on a little earlier next time!
