Not sure I'm posting in the right section but here goes....Does any one have a used (cracked etc..) FG On Road wheel they no longer want? I have a SVM Columbia MK5 and need a junk wheel to see if I could make adapters for the wheels to fit my car. I assume all the FG on road center hubs use the same size? The center hub has to be in good condition for measuring. I appreciate the help! Thanks!

That way somebody in Mexico City may find out you're 'down the road', or may find out you're actually in Brisbane, OzLand.

FG vs. SVM MK5 wheel squares.

Oh boy was I wrong!!!!!! The SVM MK5 uses a larger wheel square than the FG, Harm, or even the SVM MK6. The back spacing ( offset) is different too. When I measured both squares, this is what I learned.

The FG square is 18.01mm wide by 9.47mm thick.
The MK5 square is 20.23mm wide by 15.03mm thick

More importantly than that, I put the FG wheel square on the MK5 axle. There was about a 2mm gap between the hub bearing and the wheel square when I tighten the set screw to the flat spot on the axle. If the flat spot on the axle was machined a bit, the square would fit as it should. Now with the FG wheel square on the MK5, the FG wheel mounted with about 5 - 5.5mm of axle threads exposed to secure it to the car.

This was an unexpected pass through the house so I only had time to look at the rear axles of both cars. I will compare the front axles next time. I took pictures but my phone will not let me post them. I will try with my laptop when I get the opportunity. I hope this helps and sorry for my first reply. I should have checked first. Cheers.

I have one you can have. Let me know if you want it. I live in Canada though so shipping will not be free. However if you want any measurements I am sure I can get them for you too. But ya if you want it shipped to you it will be at your expense.

Thanks for the offer but xlamontx pretty much gave me the answer.
I appreciate it!

Yeah Eric, I'm really glad you asked the question. My MK5 has brake rotors on the front so when I measure the front axle squares, I will check the fit of the FG rotors too.

one other thing to note, fg has several different widths of wheel squares. 9.5mm, 11.5mm, 14mm and 17mm, and 18mm for f1 cars. fg uses different widths to fine tune track width to fit different bodies as well as fitting disc brakes.

sounds like fg squares may work with some shimming.

FG wheel square on SVM MK5

Ok, I got a chance to try and put the front FG wheels on the SVM MK5. The short answer is: If you take the rear 9.5mm FG wheel square and mount it to the front axle of the MK5, the wheel will fit. Some shimming may be required but this was the easy, solution. The diameter of the FG brake rotor is too big to fit the MK5 brake "calipers".

Now for a few more details... I first tied to mount the FG 14.09mm front wheel square and there was not enough threads showing to put the wheel nut on. I then tried using the FG front axle which is longer than the MK5 front axle, the FG 14mm square, and FG wheel combo and that fit with no issues. {SIDE NOTE; I didn't think to measure the total width of the front and rear with the FG wheels mounted on both sides. I would hate to see you convert your MK5 to the FG setup and the wheels stick out from under the body 4-5mm on both sides.} Anyway, i was a bit courius at this point, so I tried the MK5 axle, the SVM MK6 brake rotor, and the FG wheel square. This worked great to keep the front brakes working. The MK5 has the fiber rotors and the MK6 has the alloy rotors. The MK5 just has the steel plates for calipers while the MK6 has that brake pad material glued to the steel plates. In other words, if smaller diameter rotors can be found, then the caliper plates will need to have that wear material added to not damage the metal rotors.

there are a couple different sizes of brake rotors for fg stuff. magura 2 rotors for fg are 69mm, mecatechs are 64mm, fg mechanical has 60mm for onroads. i have heard that offroad stuff uses larger rotors but im unable to confirm it.

Ok then I must have the 69mm magura rotors on my Evo. I think the master cylinders say magura on them. As much time as I spent looking at it, I should be certain. And you are correct on the off road rotors. I bought some FG cable brakes for my baja and they are larger.
