a lil guide i put together :)

as for radio set/servos, no idea what the hpi one is like? but the norm nowadays is 2.4ghz handsets although i do still use 40fm personally (Sanwa Gemini II) with multiplex servos :)

& local clubs, no idea sorry mate, im from North West & theres not really a largescale club near me, although ive just met a bunch who meet up not far away from me :)

best bet make a post here ;)

thanks for that ill look into this and get something sorted mine has front disc brakes but need t obe checked out

My marder is all standard plastic & it holds up very well - not broken anything yet!! The plastic is better than you think IMO. Adding ally adds weight :2guns: get some front brakes either cable or hydro & a tuned pipe for a start

I posted a thread in the electronic section for an Ansmann W3 2.4ghz set for £53 at JE Spares. This is an excellent set by all accounts. Might be worth a look.....

What Andy said is right. The plastic does do a good job and will hold a poop load of abuse. If you want longevity go for alloy, I have used both and knackered the plastic. The alloy is 60% stronger but when you bend it,you bend it! and it takes a few quid/bucks to straighten it or buy more.
If you are going for a jump truck/buggy buy alloy. If not stick to a reputable company that sells after market parts.

Good luck

my baja is full plastic, no upgrades besides a pipe and I haven't broken anything yet but I have only had it for 4 week. have done some pretty big jumping and had a few spills but no problems yet.

i will be getting alloy engine mounts soon though.

I had a big off & bent the chassis but all the plastic stayed intact. If the plastic does break its only buttons to replace rather than big $$$$$. There are +'s & -'s to both. A big part of it is whether you want bling :cool2:

the biggest - to alloy is the price and also the weight mines all alloy cost me bundles but its bash proof would i do it again no id keep it mainly standard apart from eng mounts, diff mounts+diff, rear upper arms, gear plate thats about it and of course metal gears

bits ive buts (stock) on my MB Pro are:

Rear shock tower (getting front & rear alloy upgrade soon)
Melted spur (replaced with steel)
Stripped thread in front hub (replacing front & rear hubs with alloy soon)

Ive had it 2 years & apart from the melted spur, the others ive done in the past few months! :(

Only just fitted a DOM pipe (ta james \o/ ) not been out with it yet.. fkin weather :( ..only things im gunna upgrade after the above is engine mounts & front bulk head & front cables :)
