That's fookin scary.....here's a test for all of you that think a kill switch WILL stop one of these engines going full song....
hold full throttle by hand..(not by tx)..and push the kill button and see how long it takes for it to stop......

It takes quite some time.......enough time to cause some serious damage to people....
I have tested this with ALL of my engines and they DON'T want to stop when going full chat...

Some one NEEDS to sort out some sort of MECHANICAL failsafe that operates like a killswitch..ie(works on it's own when no power or signal)
Whether it be brakes..anchor..dynamite.....

The simple answer is to make sure the car is set up correctly (throttle & brake linkages and transmitter) and don't run where there are people about or go and race/bash on a track. At the end of the day, if you stuff your car into a wall - tough titty, into a parked car - run like fook, into a person and you're in the pooh.

+1 to rossco's response, do the test, results WILL surprise you

How did you do the test? Forget it I see how. I'm going to try it too.

Same happens to mine on half throttle, never mind full.
As is implied, imagine the ground covered at full chat!!

I have to switch on, then off again - sometimes - and it generally cuts on the second attempt.

A friend of mine had his baja bugger off on him...throttle stuck wide open...it clobbered a pole, smashed the front in and flipped upside down....screaming it's tits off..
I couldn't get to the trottle linkages coz he had mesh windows cable tied on.....held the kill button on...and nothing happened other than the odd misfire...
So....we just left it revving it head off upside down with hope that it would run out of juice.....but they are fairly economical with no load....so 20 mins later it started to splutter then died....really died..
Murdered EVERYTHING internally...it was reduced to junk coz we couldn't shut it down..

A simple flap over the exhaust outlet would stop it.......

So these kill switches are not as good as people make out then?

Possibly not but how many people run at full chat, I know the engine will extend to full chat on a runaway but it can be caught and stopped in time, seen it done.

Personally I would not run without one but as you have said good maintenance is also key.

I have serious reservations about kill switches who ever makes them. IMO they will lul people into a false sense of security.
IF as in the video you're in the park and you do get a run away could the user switch it off in time? obviously different circumstances come into play e.g how busy the park is etc.
Again, like in the video, the car is going flat chat... 40mph let say, IF the driver hit the kill switch and it actually worked how fast would the car be going at this point? 40mph would be my guess.

A well set up transmitter, servos and linkages are worth 100 kill switches IMO.

thats what im worried about is if the killswitch will kick in at full speed!

but while your waiting for it to kick in just drive round in circles

I've hard wired wherever possible ever since I started getting glitches with the v2S, and it seemed to have cured the then-intermittent problem with the kill switch.
Now, once all is warmed up (when cold it will kill 1 in 2 attempts), there's virtually (1 in 5 perhaps) NO CHANCE of killing the engine other than with the normal button!!
No lose wires and all connections are good.

I'm going to take a closer look again, but don't see why I should have to re-invest in a v1 when the initial Killer Bee direction was for v2S.
I MIGHT be mistaken and hope that I can find a lose connection somewhere, but don't see it, as everything else is working perfectly.

........and being sensible about where you run. The field in the vid was too close to the kids play area for my liking.

There is mention of a problem with Spektrum that relates to PIRATED Rx's by KoKo.
Is anyone familiar with this and how can you distinguish between the fake and the real one?
This MIGHT be the reason for the problem that I'm encountering.
