wasn't sure where to put this thread as the buggy i've made up is built from parts taken from a marder, leopard, and what was left from my monster beetle after i did the 4x4 conversion on it. however, as i'm going to model the bodyshell on a baja buggy (see the third pic), i thought i'd bang it on this section.
following my amazement from finding out what's included in the conversion kit, after building the 4x4 MB i was left with almost a complete car, so i raided the bargains on ebay in search of what was missing.
eventually i purchased what was needed, like engine, fuel tank, drive shafts and cups, diff etc, and the other little odds n sods you forget about, ha ha. the engine's a 29cc CY unit, i was lucky to only pay £38 - it started after just two pulls
it's also fitted with a tuned pipe i had off a leopard. with its larger cc i was able to give it longer legs and fit higher gearing as it has that extra bit of torque. it accelerates like a scalded cat and the top end speed's fan dabby dozy!! :w00t:
all i need now is to find some sort of aluminium tubing from somewhere that can also be easily fixed on each corner forming the bodyshells frame shape. i was looking at the rollcage sets you can buy from FG for the likes of their touring car models, but not at over £30 i'm not!!!
anyway, the first two pix below are what the rolling chassis is now, just going to fabricate the frame from aluminium tubing and the bodyshell from foamex. hopefully make it as realistic as poss compared to the third photo
