Hi Everyone...i'm starting to research the FG monster truck and had a question. I've had 2 stroke dirt bikes before and the top ends always had to be rebuilt. Does that concept apply to the 2 stroke truck engines as well.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

After a long time of running you may have to change out a ring for more compression (Power) but as for total rebuild usually you want to upgrade before that's ever needed.:)

thanks Bigger for the response...

Lets say I don't want to upgrade..but I know I will...LOL but if i was keeping the motor that came with the truck...is their a way to determine how long the top end will last before needing to be rebuilt?

All depends on use. Keep the carb clean and free of any debris, keeping debris from getting in the top end and and it will last years....
I have been running my MT with a Zen26 for over 3 years I think now and no problems with the motor (Knock on wood) But I do run filter and prefilters and clean the pre after every bash that way the filter stays new. I have a ring that I was going to install this winter but I just don't think the compression has fallen any? I do also think using a high end oil will help as well. I use Amsoil Sabre Pro at 25:1 (Ya, its a 100:1 oil) and have never fouled a plug nor had oil separation problems.

Mannnn thank you sooo much Bigger...I was sweatinn that. I'm just getting into the RC truck thing and I'm trying to do as much research as possible. I never even thought of having to rebuild the top end until I saw a guy online selling his FG stating it had X amount of tanks on "new top end" and then it hit me.

I'm ridiciulous with maintenance so getting some years out of the top end shouldn't be a problem. I just remember how much of a pain rebuilding the top end of my dirt bikes was everryyyy winter.

Thanks again bro

Nooo, problem. You will love these little motors(Monsters)! How many times have you heard of your friend, family, neighbors rebuilding their weed wackers.:clown:
