FG two speeds/pinions/gears/ratios

hello all.

i am running a 16/48 clutch pinion/spur set up and 14/48 layshaft/diff setup on my fg monster beetle pro.

now i recently read an old thread posted by lawnmower man which stated that he once ran a 22/42 clutch set up,IMPRESSIVE! and he claimed a 56 mph run on the radar gun.:w00t:

i want to find out more about pinion sizes in terms of speed and low down power,and if spur/clutch must be changed for an outright speed set up must layshsft/diff set up be changed also?

Gives me great pick-up on the MT and good turn of speed, more than I need anyway!

o right,but which set up are you using right now to give you that good turn of speed?

your layshaft is 14tooth im sure standard, what way do you find the 44/20 set up ducky?

That is the gearing I'm using currently, i was running that in the video I posted recently, although because of the snow you can't really judge it. When I get some more runs done in the dry I'll post more comments.

ducky from what i saw on that video your monster is rapid seems to make others look slow..... and clean may i add! must be a good ratio u are using so.

hydros look wicked too,i sold mine and im kinda sorry now.

jasrx ur beetle is the cleanest i have ever seen a beetle,some job man fair play.

im going at mine now tonight again,new body,cleaned the s##t out of it and loads of new parts,should be intresting,could very well be a long night lol

p.s jas how do you find that gear set up?

I'm running 48/16 44/20 and 16/48 layshaft diff on my baja with the baja tires, I've run 46/18 42/22 but find 42 too tall off road. you definitely want 14/48 or 14/50 layshaft diff for the monster tires.

the gear setup seems fine , im still running the standard engine untill i see what the AUS-USA dollar is doing .. then ill go a ESP stroker 4 bolt setup .
