Hi there.
I've just bought a gem of a used FG Monster 2WD.
Problem is that the inside wheel spins wildly as / when I apply power.
I've just bought a (relative) bargain of a viscous diff kit off FleaBay, reference FG8603.
It comes supplied with 1000 wt oil, which looks quite thin.

Does anyone have any experience with these, what thickness if normally used - stock or thicker?
Thanks.

I had one of these until the gears broke, I ran something like 10000wt oil in it and it still span a wheel once the oil had warmed up.

You could try sticking some extra plates into it also (available from Hobbythek) but if I'm being honest you're better off selling it and picking up an adjustable LSD instead.

Loathe to admit it, but you're right!!
I completed the installation, and put much thicker oil in, but the wheels spin roughly as before.
The worst bit is I had the opportunity to but a 'good use' adjustable diff on FleaBay and thought the viscous might be the easy way out - less spannering ... !!
It'll do for now - enough expense, and I'm only 'playing' not racing.

Well the viscous still go for good money on Fleabay to the on-road users, and LSD's are always turning up on there so I wouldn't worry too much. :)
