I am new with the gas 1/5 scale truck. I have nitro car and 1/8 scale bug, 3 electric stadium truck that i can drive at leat a football field and still have full control of the vehicle.

My Firehammer MT can not be driven more than 150 feet with out the fail safe kicking in and spin the car around. Then I have to walk 20 feet toward the car to retain control.

The controller work fine on my 1/8 nitro scale bug. It is a stock FM controller from DTX.

Please help!

Hit and miss with stock RTR radio systems. Your best bet is to save up and get yourself a ghz system like a spectrum of Futaba Faast system.
If the unit is new you can call customer service explain your problem and see if it can be warrantied.

The original controller got about a 50 feet range so I took a perfectly good controller and crystal out of my nitro 1/8 raze and put it in the Firehammer. The range got better but not football field range.

DTX is sending me a new controller but i can't figure out why the range is so short.

I'm thinking of heat shrinking the break rod where it past thru the break lever loop. I've been reading to avoid metal to metal contact.

I'm thinking of getting futaba 3PM. Is it a good controller?

Hey man don't worry I have the same thing it isn't the controler or the reciever its the truck itself maybe the electrical discharge from the motor who knows remember the rhmt is gas not nitro soo I believe its the stator or sparkblug makin inteferance do urself a favor get a spectrom best thing u can get I have it great controler no interferance u can basiclay drive as far as u can see if not further with a camera trust me

I suggest ditch that stock radio system..Get a Fatuba 3 PM and a modified Pico engine
kill switch..2 best things you can do right off for your firehammer...AKASlawhammer

It is a 75 mhz FM controller. It works flawless in my nitro 1/8 scale buggy (it goes out of site before range). I guest gas engine create more noise that can overcome a weak or un-filtered signal.

Thanks for all your help. The general consensus is to get a spread spectrum controller. I will put that at the top of my upgrade list.

You guys are great.
