Well, I painted it and finally have it mounted. Some of the mounting is rigged to say the least....I'll eventually see how it stands up to abuse. I didn't want to pull that giant front bumper off the front, so the wheel wells in the front sit high and back a bit further. I guess I can always trim the rear wells up sometime. Oh well, next large scale is going to be an MB Pro so I'll just be happy with this until then! :)

I was inspired by Moosey at Tamiya101.com with this Sand Scorcher.

Looks killer dude.:2guns:
I prefer the white wing compared to the yellow one. It would be interesting to see if you could fit the FG side rails on it...that would look hot IMO.

Did you have to cut the shell for your top-end DOM to fit?

I was asked what parts I used to get the Beetle body on, so here is what I did:

DTXC6340, Roll Bar Set Firehammer. I used the three parts circled, the two wing mounts and a plastic extension.

Here is how easy the wing mounts mount up, they fit right on to the shock mount and connect to the main roll bar:

As for the body mount posts, I used FG parts:

http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product2593.html (2 sets of these).

Here is my rear mount "rigged", I'm embarrassed for what poor work I do on stuff like this, but I'll know how piss poor it really is once I take it out and roll it a few times!

As you can see, I drilled a couple holes in front of the original crossbrace and used one of the pieces that came with the dtxc parts above as an additional crossbrace. Here I used a couple metal pieces from the hardware store and mounted up the body posts with a plastic spacer underneath the mounts between the rollbar and the metal piece.

For the front:

I removed the original body posts from the Firehammer, but left the crossbrace piece mounted.

I used those angled metal pieces for the front (again cheap parts from the hardware store) and just screwed in some screws to the front brace to hold them in place, then put on the body mounts. Again, majorly rigged, it may not stand a chance in a good roll over, but Firehammer parts are cheap so I'll just remodify once it happens. Side shot below:

The way I have the mounts in the front, the body is pretty much right up on the bumper:

That's basically it. The body I purchased was from Daves:

As for the wing, the HPI Baja 5b wing fits PERFECTLY! I would suggest that over the Firehammer wing.

That is great..Just what I am looking to do to my firehammer..
Got a truck in nitro...1/8 scale 4x4..But not sure I want to go back there
now with this 1/5 scale firehammer
AKA Slawhammer

Yes, same as the Hammer parts.
The shipping costs are a bit high for the U.S.A
FG hop-ups is the best bet for now.

I would prefer a North American company come up with the parts that are readily available. FG Hopups just orders from Hobbythek from what I understand.

Also, there are no alloy arms for the Firehammer MT.

Too bad most companys cater to qoute "Baja" Don't get me wrong
there nice and mfg companys are going where the products like Baja will bing them top dollars for after market items....But there are other so called clones
people will spend good money for hop ups as well...These MFG Companies
will do well if well rounded to all if they can do it..Ya I know R&D takes money
well spend some on R&D you will get more money in return for more clones also..
AKA Slawhammer:2guns::2guns:

Most FG parts & upgrades fit the FH & FH MT.

Some with modification, some without. Since no one really knows unless they do it and post it here, so to me it's a gamble. I'm not willing to pay high prices for FG parts only to find out that they don't fit properly. Some fit the Firehammer, but the Firehammer and Firehammer MT have several different parts.
