Ok got a prob is the stock engine in the fhmt a 2 or 3bolt I want to put a head kit on need to know btb or slaw I know one of u will know

If it uses the same engines as the FG/HPI's then it will be a 2 bolt as the 4-bolts aren't fitted as standard. :)

Murphy: your stock engine should be a 23CC 2 bolt...If your going to do a head kit..
I would suggest also..Redo the bottom end aswell....new engine bearings(Zenoah)& oil seals..case gasket...then what ever head kit.....What head kit you thinking of going with?
You might consider a new engine ..G290 from DDM think Like $189 bucks...Free shipping over $100 Bucks.....Check out what it will cost you to do your rebuild vs. a new engine...Just my thoughts on this...AKASlawhammer

Hello all. 1st time poster, long time lurker.

Just wanted to reply to murphyslaw's question. I picked up a brand new Firehammer MT from Tower a month ago, and it is the 23cc 3 bolt head that I believe Smartech is building in house now. I'm not sure when they might have switched from the 2 bolt 23cc CY engine. I also believe that they are still using the CY in the Firehammer buggy, as I checked the the exploded engine views on both, and they still show the 2 bolt head on the buggy, while the MT shows the 3 bolt.

The 3 bolt runs good, but, of course, you will not be able to just put a head kit on.

not being smart here

why don't you just look at the engine and see for yourself.... lol

its at the top of the engine it is called a cylinder head, and you should see how many bolts are holding it down.

i presume if you are getting a big bore kit for a fhmt you must have a firehammer monster truck right?

or is it a present for sombody else?

You are right on the Gp290, I am very impressed with it, best $200. I have ever spent. It pulls the front wheels with authority and really works the wheelie bar!

For the money and parts availability for a (3? bolt) You may be better off with a brand new mill. That Gp290 and a pipe will tear that truck apart!!

Just my opinion...

Trip..

The top of the head will show you your bolt pattern. The two has two the three three and the four is a ZEN 4 and won't be on a stock FH.

If you have a 3 bolt then the GP290 is a great buy to start out your new engine experience. From there you can buy just about every 2 bolt head kit and change it to your liking.
If you have the 2 bolt CY then just about any 2 bolt head kit can be designed to your liking.

The 23cc motor is not a bad motor just bogged down from under exhausting.

1st of all if anyone has a stock motor the 1st thing you will want to do is buy a real good pipe for whatever motor is on it. This will let you feel what an engine upgrade would feel like even with your stock motor. From there when you get another wish for more power you can upgrade your motor and still use your pipe and see another great improvement in performance gain. I have always done it this way when I get a new model and it keeps your interest and excitement of upgrading.

Go with the Dominator Torque Pipe if you haven't upgraded yet...then if that isn't enough, go with a different engine. I still have my 23cc running after almost 2 years with the dominator pipes.

I have the dom pipe and the 45b filter don't realy need a prefilter on the 5b one not doing crazy sand driving usualy grass some sand maybe gravel I'm saving up got the girlie a 5b should be in soon and have to go purple all the way lol and min need big motor mount and just got a front brake kit aswell as rear diff that is ajustoble dono got it from ebay see what happens
