Spent the last three week researching the redcat MT. Pulled the plug and bought it last week. Been selling rcs and parts to put into upgrades and spare parts for the MT that is scheduled to be here tomorrow. Got all the required parts in today. Including the new ring and bearings for the CY26 motor with the big bore kit I was going to put on the MT. Now we get 6 inches of snow the last 12hrs. With another 6 inches forcasted for tonight and the temps are dropping. Low expected of -12 tomorrow night. Plastic doesn't hold up in the low temps we all know. I run brushless rcs all year round even in these temps but it's just a drag looking back at last week, Had 50 degrees outside during the day and sun shinning when I made the purchase. I am still taking the MT out when I get done going over it and installing the upgrades but darn it. I was hoping to get this beast over to the big hills and rough terain. To give it hell before the snow hit. I had to make chain for the 2 wheel drives rcs I had in the past but the other 4x4 rcs I had that had the masher style tires did good. Just by flipping them around so the tread was backward. The benifit of those brushless setup was forward and reverse. I am guessing the heavy MT will do well plowing through the snow as long as it can get traction. I hope UPS doesn't get held up in the weather. Worry, worry, worry. lol
Any genral tips on driving a gasser in these conditions and temps. I will probably throw the sand paddles on the 5b and try it out tomorrow. I read that the baja you need to watch the throttle linkage freezing up on you around the carb. How about the Rampage MT?
