No, that just normally makes a sooty mess. The leaks that cause the high idle are on the intake side. A high idle caused by a leak is due to exsesive air which leans the mixture thus raising the idle.

Mine did that exact thing and it was a loose head bolt.......Base Gasket leak......
Same here...

Mine did this when I had a blown base gasket....

Try spraying some carb cleaner around the gasket areas. The idle will speed up a little more when you find the leak.

Also, have you checked your fuel lines? A cracked fuel line will cause an air leak.

Last thought. Is your throttle trim set correctly?

i will check all of that also i believe that it may be the dome, it has a little chip/scratch in it but il try the carb cleaner and replace the fuel lines with snappy rc ones, does the grommit in that kit fit redcat tanks?

The grommet doesn't seat well in the stock tank.

check the gaskets on the carb side from the cylinder out...make sure all ur bolts are tight.......and make sure your sparkplug is tight...also make sure that ur throttle linkage isnt pushin the carb open at all.....if those are all good only other thing i can think of is it needs a good tune

i will thoroughly check everything im going to get a wallbro carb could my pice of junk ruixing have anything to do with it? also my kit came with a spacer is that what i should be using?

I'd get a Walbro, even if it wasn't the carb. Just better quality. And, what spacer are you talking about? Sometimes they include a spacer that goes in between the air filter mount and the carb. Those aren't necessary, a regular gasket will work fine. But that's just a guess. If you can take a pic of it, that'd help.
