Ok, my X-Acto knives finally arrived yesterday so I was able to start

painting the Desert Rat body shell. Of course on the day I decide to paint

we get really high winds but that would not deter me. Whenever the wind

died down for a minute or two I would get outside and lay down a coat of

paint quickly before it picked up again. A couple times the wind almost

blew the body out of my hands...lol

I finished painting about 10 minutes ago and pulled off the protective film

so I could snap a couple pictures for you guys. Everything you see on the

body is painted except for the headlights and front grille stickers. I thought I

would modify the West Coast Choppers logo a little bit and give a jab to the

HPI Baja while I was at it....lol

I got it done and now it's hanging on the wall drying, ready to be mounted

on my MT tomorrow.

This is my first time painting any type of RC body. Tell me what you think

but be kind....

Everything was drawn free hand on top of the truck and I masked the

inside and then cut away. Those center letters in the Redcat logo were a pain

in the butt. It was very tedious making sure that part was done right.

If you want I can Photoshop it and send you a jpeg?

damn that's sweet!
Thanks Fastlane. You can't tell in the pics but everything that is white, silver

and red has a nice subtle pearl coat. When you see it at an angle it's more

noticeable.

Damn......Im speechless. Thats one badass paintjob.
Thanks O,

I think it turned out ok for my first time out. :D

I learned a lot with this little project. Next time I won't be so

darn nervous. I took my time with the drawing, masking and cutting

but I did hurry on the actual painting. Luckily it all went well despite

my inexperience. I was sure I'd screw it up somehow:eek:. The gods

must have taken pity on me. :D

Did you use any Adhesion Promotor?
I used some Spaz Stix surface prep and I scuffed up the inside a little

before doing any of the work. The paint is really stuck on there, it aint

going nowhere. At least until I have my first bad crash.

I'd say just race them on a short course and dominate them. Just stay away from drag racing! LOL
I have a pellet gun and a wife with really good aim. I'll hide her in the bushes

ready to take one of their tires out. Actually she has terrible aim, probably

shoot me in the ass.

Bajas are about only good for donuts and going in a straight line. Yes I said it. :D

Id love to have that on my Ramp, of course itd have to be on the back. So the bajas could actually read it.

You just let them get ahead and then pass them up. It's much more humiliating

that way...toy with them...lol:D
