Ran my mt earlier this week. Found it running poor once it stopped, it took for ever to start. Had to walk away, finally started and still running bad took body off to see smoke pouring out of receiver box. What a mess melted heaps of wire. destroyed kill switch ,on off switch, melted receiver yet still working.Nearly destroyed new battery.Has this happened to anyone i think kill switch may have shorted? since it was the most melted.

it could be the kill switch, but i had a servo burn out on me and melt down a reciever. best to test all of your electronics when you fix it

same happen to me melted wire. melted rx tosted throttle brake servo. just replaced it all last week.

now just need my front gear box/diff to get it running

Got it running again receiver box empty compared to before. No on off switch no kill switch. Running failsafe and battery direct to rx. Could have saved more if i could have got lid off quicker so i changed my lid to hinge open.

I remove all on off switches in my off roads. they just cause problems. better to have wires out of the box with a deans plug or similar. just unplug when done or charging

2 cents

I had this happen to me 3 times with the stock servos. Very Very frustrating. I changed to hitec 805MGs for steerring and and a futaba for throttle and have not had trouble since. The one other thing i did change is I am now using a y harness to connect the servos directly to the battery bypassing the reciever all together. So i connect the battery to the y harness, one end of the y goes into the reciever the other end of the y goes into another Y that hooks up the 2 steering servos. With this config i have had no electrical issues. Still using the same killer Bee switch i managed to save from the first 3 fires. I would probably have done a considerable about of damage if not for that switch the first 2 fires the motor quit and when i looked the throttle was wide open.

Hope this helps a bit

Ouch... that sucks. In my radio box I run one of these Killer RC inline fuses (link) and one of their 10A power switches (link). Both of them are cheap and should hopefully prevent something like this from happening.

Thanks for your suggestions. How do you get all the wires to fit in your Rx box mine was jammed packed when it first caught fire. Have you changed the lid i got sick of undoing those screws. :)

I actually took my battery out and zip tied it to the front upper aluminum plate (which attaches to the steering column). I put a large piece of foam rubber underneath the battery first to dampen the vibration then put three zip ties on to hold it. It's actually very solid, not the best looking thing but I've thrown my truck around pretty darn hard and it stays in place

The nice thing about taking the battery out of the box is I am now able to really vibration dampen the receiver and kill switch with lots of foam rubber and of course everything fits so much nicer with all that extra space.

True taking the battery out would make heaps more room.I hate all that wire jammed in the box its a pain in the butt if you need to do any thing.
