Thanks! I am having to keep the choke at about half until she warms up. Is this normal?

What are the L and H screws set at? You should not have to keep the choke on at all to keep it running. That sound frightning like a lean setting and the take off on the lower end seems boggy. The idle seemed quite high are you sure you have the L screw out far enough or mabey you used the idle screw when it was rich to keep it going?
I would think with the DOM pipe your settings will be around H=11/2, L=11/2to11/4 turns out but each motor can be slightly different.

Check your spark plug color. What does it look like?

Yep... it dies if I keep the choke open. I will check the plug. What does the 11/2 mean? Do you mean 11 turns out?

Ok.. I am making progress. I can start it now without the choke. However, I still have to hold it at 1/4 throttle to keep it running. What should the idle screw be at?

Start with the HSN (high speed needle) at 1.5 turns out. Put the LSN (low speed needle) at 1.25 turns out.

Start it up then adjust the idle screw. All it does is open the carb more. Once you get the idle, then start making the other adjustments to the HSN and LSN for your pipe. That's the way I would do it, someone else may have a better way though.

ok.. its running better. I can now keep it running\idle without messing with the choke.

I have another issue though.. the drivetrain sounds like it is slipping. It goes ok in low speed, but whenever I try and get on it I hear really bad grinding noise adn the motor just revs. I looked at the pinion and spur through the clear cover and they look ok. No stripped teeth or anything.

Check your diff gear and the other pinion. Your motor mount screws are probably loose and it has messed up the mesh between these two gears. I've had a female dog of a time with these on several occasions. When you can, get an alloy large motor mount (from good ol' deutchland), no other place has it that I'm aware of. They ship quickly, you will get it within a week but you'll also pay a king's ransom for shipping (around 40 bucks). Hobbythek

There are a few grubs that can come loose also that can cause slipping. hold it down on the ground or against a nonmoving object and give it gas and see what is not moving or slipping.
