Just want to introduce myself. My name is Stephen and I have an addiction. I love anything RC and will blow money on anything RC. I have been an active RC racer back in the 80's, then later got into RC airplanes and helicopters. When I had a chance to pick up an awesome T1000 from a buddy last month, I wasted no time and brought it home. I always loved these big boys (used to love those quarter scale jackrabbits) and I figure it would be a good way to get back into cars.

Anyway just wondering if I made the right decision going with a KM instead of a HPI kit. I have read some good feedbacks about KM kits, and the quality seems to be up to par. Haven't had the time to play with it much, but last ran I noticed there seem to be a delay in clutch engagement. The engine would rev up for a while before the truck would move. Not sure if the 2 speed has something to do with it. Anybody have a guess what I should look for?

Also the joint between header and pipe seem to have developed a leak, as I can literally feel exhaust blowing out of the joint. Not to mention the pipe is really loud, probably pissing my neighbors off while I was running it. Are there quieter mufflers I can add to this?

Thanks in advance to any help. It's good to be here amongst all the enthusiasts.

Stephen

You probably need a new exhaust gasket. http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.1697/.f

I would recommend taking the model completely apart, learning about how it ticks, and checking all parts, screws and nuts before reinstallation.

Have fun!

What exhaust do you have?
You will not find a quieter pipe then a stock square can. You will also loose power if you change back to it.

Welcome to the forum.... sounds like you need to inspect your clutch shoes and spring. 2 piece pipes are famous for leaking.... A good aftermarket ddm or jetpro pipe or the like should solve the leaking exhaust issues as well as add some grunt to your motor.
As stated above its a good idea to do a tear down and check the diff fluid and make sure all the other screws are tight!

yeah, i'm a big believer in taking any car apart to learn how things work too! at least then when something goes wrong you can have a rough idea of what it may be. u enjoy your purchase matey..

not real sure what your feeling is exhaust leak, the fins on the fly wheel push air thru and around the head on the engine. which is most noticable above the exhaust port. but I would still check the gasket just to be sure! congrats
