hi im fitting cable front brakes to my touring car, will i need a alloy servo tray with these brakes? also can anyone reccomend:D good budget servo to run these? cheers
 
you don't need a alloy radio tray but they do help as they don't flex or move like the plastic trays but the plastic trays can be made stronger with a simple mod of adding a couple of extra alloy posts,,but there are a couple of kcr alloy radio trays on ebay for @£30 odd quid brand new from rossmods i run one of these and for the money you cant complain very strong and comes with alloy posts and screws ect as for servos i use savox the £30 quid 16.5kg ones there plenty good enough and work well
 
you can just add an additional post to the stock plastic tray to stiffen it up rather than going ally. I did this with 1 of my marders using an M6x50 c/sk screw to stop the tray flexing

As ren says with servo. With front cables you need at least 15kgs torque although I ran mine for a while with the Hitec 645mg at 9.5kgs torque and it was just about ok.
 
Thanks for replys, I'm going to try and stiffen the plastic one up for know but that alloy one looks a good buy for 30 quid, the servo looks good too, cheers

do the extra mount on the plastic tray and you wont need to swap it. money saved for other hop ups!
 
I remember fitting the cable brakes, 20Kg servo and no tray modification - boy, did it flex!!
I use the Savox 1256TG servos for throttle/brake.

Somebody wrote somewhere not to forget to ensure setting up of the pads correctly on the discs, before setting the cables - 100% spot on.

right run into problem, ive rebuilt my ecoliune with new chassis, a comp and my radio tray is a early off road marder type one so i need a new tray, i seems to have 2 servos running the steering too, so i know need a new servo tray and good steering servo and a servo to run the disk brAKES
 
How much money are you willing/able to throw at it?

If it's a change of throttle/brake and steering servo, I'd look at options.

Possibly check if your Rx (receiver) can take higher voltages - many can take up to 9V - and possibly consider going LiPo.

Savox make high voltage servos that will fit the bill. If they're half as good as the 'standard' voltage ones I use, they'll be brilliant.

Just a thought.

Best check the manufacturers specifications.
Basically need to see that the Rx can handle 2S LiPo.

I've had to retro grade recently, and change back to NiMH, as it was getting too complicated - too many wires.
Shouldn't be your problem with an on-road.
I was running 2 Rhinos and 2 Savox brake servos for my MT, so have a by-pass. .....
