Why is it that were not only not allowed to talk about our clones, but we can't even give an honest review of a product on "THE OTHER FORUM"?!?! It's just ridiculous!!! I just ordered my shock braces and got them in. The rear was prefect (anodized)but the front was painted. Poorly painted at that. So I make a post to ask why and it gets deleted!!! So then I posted on a thread about OBR(which I plan to buy an engine from) saying im Surprised this thread hasent been deleted since it was not portraying OBR in a positive light. Then received an email sayin I was "Trolling"!!! All I was tryin to do was get some answers as to why my parts didn't match, but since I Wasent kissing anybodies a$$ and praising them I got some kinda points against me-WTF?!?

Welcome 'HOME' bro!!

All can be discussed and (mildly!!) slated as desired here.

All members here have a mix of just about anything you can mention.

My FG's are probably 'clones' of some description as many of the alloy parts, bought new, and from Hobbythek, are not pure 'FG parts', but am I bothered .... watch my face as I blast the MT up and down - Cheshire cat grin springs to mind!!

It's almost like somebody owning a 1960's Bentley and a Rolls owner of the equivalent model telling him is not in the same class ....
Or somebody owning a Daimler 250 V8 and being told it's inferior to a Mk.II Jag - many reckoned if running properly the Daimler was better balanced .... lighter engine.

Al.

its the same here i own a mk1 golf gti cabrio and there not liked that much by the mk1 golf gti tin top owners,,but come the 3-4 days a year the roofs down its in a class of its own

as for you owning a clone good on ya nice you had the sense to save a few quid and as long as you enjoy it who gives a toss

ya u have the hardcore hpi guys and they think us km bajaer's are scourges of the baja world it seems, cuz we saved a few hundred bucks on a baja thats every bit as good as theirs they spent a grand on.

Tell me about it. I thought we were through with segregation!!! At this point I wouldn't classify my rig as either KM or HPI, hell if I was gonna call it anything I'd call it TR Baja because of all the aftermarket parts that r on it. I just want a place where I can speak of my rig freely. I'd b the first guy to tell you I post on "the other forum" posing as an authentic hpi Baja, but I shouldn't have to "pose" as anything. I was a complete newb when I got my rig from Dan back in march but now I know they are basically no difference between the two. I figured I'd b calmed down by now but NO!!! I've seen 5b and 5t on this forum that would piss on some hpi bajas on the other site(mine included ;) ). Just think its stupid to be separated and not truly being able to give an honest opinion.

yep i post on there once in while, but i don't fake the funk i just say my baja's never say a brand,i even had a email conversasion about it with troy regardring power jam, how or what classifies a clone when you have after market parts from almost every brand that sponsors the "other" forum?sad to say troy never replied back after i asked "where that would leave people who own such rigs that arent hpi,km,rovan but more like TR,Integy,GH,FLM,FF?"
sad situation though,i have gotten into so many arguements with people via email about clone vs. hpi, its not even funny anymore.
in the end i could careless what you own, bring what you got and have a good time breaking it!

They are pretty sad to be so idealist.
If they kept EVERYTHING HPI, and HPI parts were noticibly superior, but more expensive, then he could have a point.
Fact is I'm fairly certain that 19/20 of 'these idealist sad persons' have Bajas with non-HPI parts.
How many of them have original HPI servos, for example?
How many of them have original HPI tyres?

Comment has been made that 'provided the chassis is original "whomever" (think it was Dwarfy, could be wrong)' then he'd consider it a manufacturer original ....

Mud flinging ahoy!!

It's a hobby. That's something we're all supposed to 'bond' with and enjoy, not stick up pretty pathetic, ill-founded barriers.
(I'm still jet lagged I reckon!!)

Al.

atom i think it was me that made the comment on the chassis in another post about the same thing,,im sure i said it don't matter if the cars 99% hpi and still using the km chassis its still a km and i feel the same about my bug it started as a marder and its still a marder just with a bug shell hence why i call it the marbug

well if all you have is a km main chassis, and the rest is hpi,GH, TR then it's not a km,but's no longer a hpi either, these are more like hybrids, not a single person i know who owns a hpi baja actually have a complete stock or upgraded baja with hpi upgrades, they have GH and TR upgrades, so i don't consider it a hpi,the funny thing is one of my buds bent his main chassis on his hpi baja, i gave him my old km chassis, by the theory above it would be considered a km because of the chassis, now you know that wont fly with any hpi baja owner, you can get killed for such claims.
the word hybrid fits best even with the marbug, you hybrided the marder and bug into one, same would apply to someone taking a 5B and making it a 5T, didnt come as a 5T but it was a hybrided into one.

How do you know its as good, have you owned or own a stock hpi baja ?

Does it matter?

This is the point!!

Al.

I don't really care what brand people buy its their decision their money

But yes Al it does matter to me when people pass judgment about something they know nothing about...get some personal experience then voice your opinion

no i don't own a hpi thats why i got the km. the reason i sed that is because of what everyone says. you get lemons on no matter what brand, where have i said that before on here? , and youget great ones on both. it don't matter, beileive what you wish, which brand you get. if i had the money then i prolly would of got a hpi. but i didnt, i just got fired from my job, was using my 401k retirement money to buy the baja, seemed to me like a great deal of less than 800 VS well over a grand for a hpi.

and i know youll say to each his own, as you always do, and your right. to each his whatever they can afford OWN. lol

Well you know what they say, don't always believe what you hear and
yes you do get lemons on both sides but its seems alot more frequent with the km brand rather than hpi.

The build quality of a stock hpi compared to a stock km is greatly different the hpi was so easy to build it was apleasure..
As for the km build quality i found to be not so good and it was
a struggle with some of the build.......i guess this is just one of the reasons why you pay the extra coin for the hpi your paying for the quality and precision

But if you compare the two brands totally modified with upgrades ect i guess theres no real difference except for the quality of chassis material:lol:

i agree on last part, chasis is really only main thing km left, almost all braces are aftermarket, and i don't jump mine either thats prolly why mines holdin up so well, lol
