Why is it that every time I take these damn cars out after just a few minutes running something breaks that ends the fun??
is it just me? Have I a rogue vehicle? Is my car posessed?
Yesterday, rear arm seperated from turnbuckle after just 5 mins. Today, same issue along with lost front dogbone and drive cup after 10 mins.
Previously, issues with clutch, brake etc, etc...
Despite me maintaining my car meticulously I still have persistant problems.
The culprit - an FG Baja 4wd, a car you would expect to be uber reliable.
I have owned this for just about 2 years and have only just got to the end of my first gallon of fuel, not because i don't run it often, but because every time I head off to run it I end up having the fun cut short due to mechanical issues.
I traded up from a Traxxas Revo for this - which used to give hours of fun with very little in the way of issues, yeah the Nitro engine could only take so much but very little else let me down despite much abuse - ahh happy days!
Right, gotten that off me chest, now back to the bench to fix the FG!!

Are u bashing it hard cause i know the feeling i had a team losi lst a long time ago that was the same wayi couldnt turn the rx on cause something would break i got rid of it and got a differnt lst and no problems lol i really think some trucks are just made at the factory on a friday at 459pm. Sry bout your luck man!

you must either be unlucky or giving the car a good beating, my FG Baja 2wd has taken a few hits and keeps going.

I found that the turnbuckle on the rear upper sus-arm was a weak point so I upgraded to an alloy arm and that made things much better.

I'm in Loughborough and run on the Derby road playing fields if you wanna bash sometime (though I need to finish the radio install on mine first, if I ever get around to it)

some days I can run 4-5 tanks without an issue , next time out can't go 5mins without a break, fix it in the field and bang something else goes. even happens after full service etc and doesn't matter which rc i use...i could take 3 out and all 3 would die...nature of the beast i reckon.
I used to bash the snot out of em to the extreme so expected it, now I'm into track running and they still break down, usually little silly problems but annoying none the less, only breakages now are usually caused by hitting stuff that is firmly attached to mother earth or due to collisions with other rc's. My buddy just bought a used fg 4wd baja, he stripped it and replaced all the worn bits and bearings...except one layshaft bearing as it seemed fine...went to the track and it collapsed within 5mins...sods law:rolleyes:.

Sounds like a strip down and rebuild is needed while it is out of action. Would be well worth the extra hour or 2 in making sure everything is good ;)

I have had about 1hr 30mins worth of run time in the past year due to it getting broke when out usually within the first 5-10 mins :( But just repair and make stronger gets better everytime and I will make it indestructible one day :D

Same club tinksman. 3 largescales and samething on each. It takes time and feeds paypal :w00t:

This happened to me after about 5 - 10 mins it would break everytime without fail, we bashed in a quarry full of stones, rocks etc.Now we run in a field and it runs like a dream untill we take a corner to fast ;-)

Not just me then!
Thanks for your comments guys.
I think the issue with the rear lower arm is that it has so much torque/traction, especially on dry grass that is is just ripping it out? alloy upgrade here we come...
Brawn - would like to bash sometime, i am only 15mins from derby rd fields so PM me when you are up and running.
Cheers

no its not just you. i had the same issues when i first started in 1/5 scale. every time i took my fg sportsline out it broke. i was driving 45 minutes to meet up with everyone to set up a track, 10 minutes in, im having problems. ive gone through everything from the clutch shoe bolts backing out to problems caused by mismatched/ wrong brand parts causing binding and drivetrain alignment issues, to worn out parts causing strange handling. however thats what happens when you buy an older used car. cant complain too much though, at the end of last year i still had less into it than a new one would cost and i had some bling on it.

did you buy your buggy new or used?

Bought it new, not upgraded too much as yet, can't believe price of parts for these things - bit different to fixing a 1/10th scale buggy!!
Really like it though, just wish i wasn't having so many issues.
Good job I like the bench time as much as the running time.

yea a lot more costly than a 1/10 scale. i come from that background too, its a big shock going large scale. part of what i found is trying to drive it like its a 1/10 scale doesn't help matters, i had to learn all over again.
