I have recently bought myself a XRC-2 V2 buggy. On the day I bought it the guy in the shop recomended I fit a custom reiciever and transmitter in my buggy as he had 2 customers who complained about the buggy going haywire. Taking off without control and speeding up for no reason. So I thought a custom receiver and transmitter was a good buy for I did not want that to happen with my buggy. And the best of it all.... tonight when I was tuning the idling and test driving my buggy (with first ever tank of fuel still not empty) it suddenly took off with full throttle and ran straight into a brick wall... The whole front suspention is shot!!! Can anybody perhaps tell me why, why, why?????

Sorry to hear this. Exactly what radio tx/rx did you buy? it sounds like a typical radio glitch or servo failure but it can be put down to all sorts of things. Were all the connections from servos to rx pushed fully in? Was your battery fully charged in both the tx and the car?

It can even glitch if you are running an anologue tx with digital servos or vice versa. The servos twitch and look like they are hunting, happens on one of my nitro's.

Get a kill switch try killer bee for them. makes sure you have a three channel tx then atleast you could have killed the engine remotely.

Post some links to the tx/rx you have bought and the servos etc.

I bought the RCX-2 on the 25th of October and received it on the 31st of October. The guy sold me a AIRTRONICS 92721 27MHZ AM RECIVER WITH CRISTAL tx/rx. When I received it I put the buggy on charge and put the batteries of the tx on charge. When charging was completed I did a pre run inspection and then filled up the fuel tank, tuned the idle a bit and took it for a test run. I drove it for maybe 4 to 5 hours and the next day I drove it for 2 hours. And yesterday I adjusted the wheel allignment a bit as it was a little out and adjusted the idle again for it was also not as it is supposed to be. I started up the buggy and did 1 lap which went down smoothly and at the beginning of the second lap it took off and ran into the brick wall at full throttle.

4-5 hours without a charge would kill even the bigger receiver batteries so that might have been the problem.

my recomendation would be to get a decent 2.4ghz radio and receiver as nothing will interfere with you signal. the radio binds to the receiver and its doesn't use a set frequency like the older am / fm systems

i would also recomend a failsafe and kill switch, the failsaft will apply the brakes (if you have it set this way) when signal is lost and the kill switch will allow you to kill your engine remotley if you think its going to take off on you.
 
27mhz AM systems are liable to pick up interference, closely followed by 27mhz FM systems. This is because of the spark plug and ignition coil in the 2 stroke gas engines.

Most largescale people run either 40mhz FM or 2.4ghz digital systems as these are less likely to get interference.

I think sperra has got it right, 4 hours on a standard battery is good going so it could well be a glitch due to low power. Unfortunately these things happen.

The best way forward would be to get a 'kill switch' which will stop the engine if you loose signal or power, they are about $30. I think that a killer be V2 is what you want, but email killer bee and they will tell you which is best for your radio. (if you are upgrading your radio to a 3 channel model you can even kill the engine remotely)
 
It's a hard lesson Sue-Andra but with the advancement of radio sustems over the last few years and the prices now for 2.4gig radio's the guy selling you this kit should have advised differently.

Get a 2.4 gig radio and reciever make sure it is 3 channel and fit a kill switch. the radio will also have a fail safe built in so you are covering all the bases.

+1 on Jon's comments, and the others.
2.4GHz is the way to go. 3-channel.
Set the fail safe correctly.
Get a REMOTE kill switch.

I've a 5Ah Rx battery in my FG MT, but won't consider more than 2 hours without a recharge. Get a battery indicator if you haven't already - they're cheap.
