My Rovan buggy stopped suddenly the other day, while I was running in sand. It just stopped, with no change to the engine note to suggest anything weird. Trying to restart, it still has a good "snap", suggesting plenty of compression, so I removed the plug, which was the ideal colour according to all the charts I have seen, while pushing the plastic bulb sees plenty of fuel going down the return pipe.

But, placing a tissue over the spark plug opening, it did not get damp at all even if I had the choke of full, while pulling the cord numerous times.

So it now appears to be a fuel blockage inside the carby. Has anybody got any suggestions as to what I need to look for?

cleaning the carb can be a tricky job, sometimes its better just to replace with a new one, k,m carbs are only £20 and it could save a lot of hassle, sand can be a killer to motors allso so check your piston and head for damage ,
 
Well I'll be buttered on both sides! I found the problem! One of the two head bolts had sheared off just under its head, which allowed the cylinder head to move just enough from the crankcase to prevent pressure changes inside the crankcase, which of course meant there were no forces to send the air/fuel mixture up into the head for combustion! Who would have thought it!

I was able to get the broken bolt (now a stud :)) out and am waiting for a new head gasket.

A cheap fix, so I can stop dreaming about the $$$y motors on DDM for now :D

Its good when it seems serious but is only a cheap fix. You don't get many of them!
