Anyone here fly gas heli's? I picked up a Century Radikal G30 a couple weeks ago. Just got my motor today and am going to get it put together this weekend. It's massive with a 5 foot rotor span. I can't wait to get it going.

I've owned a few of the Century gassers, still have a Radikal 20 but its not seen flight time in almost a year.. Their good helis, Century has great CS support and there are a lot of sweet upgrades for them available too.

Didnt know ya flew, what radio are you using?

got a few peeps in teh DFW area that fly the gasser helis (use them for arial photography), i myself have never owned anythign more than a 30 sized but usually sold them pretty quick to fund other projects.

i hope to get a heli in the future once i finish my baja but plan on going with a 30 to 90 sized nitro or a 450 to 500 electric (nitro is preferred though LOL)

If you arent a member yet join up over on Run Ryder & RC Heli those are probably the 2 best forums for helis at least for the bigger stuff"

yeah runryder is a great heli site, i have been a member there for some time ;). they have members from all over the place, you may even be able to hook up with local heli guys ;)

No idea mate, I bought the Gulf GT40 - or had it built for me.

Complications meant I had money owing and never actually received it - it was sold on and I was reimbursed much of what had been paid - shame!!
Only financial limitations were exchange rates - the company CAV GT were excellent - apart from taking my door off during the filming of that video!
If you notice, it is left hand drive.

I was looking forward to terrorising the roads of Lubumbashi where I was based!!

12 channel futaba.

40+ minutes with the onboard battery charging system im installing. Or over an hour with an add on fuel cell.

That would make you good in no time. Consistent learning for and hour.:w00t:

I get 10-15min tops out of my little Helli and it gets boring real quick having to change out lipos and what not....:(

Question...... what happens if you have a runaway? like for us on the ground we chase after ours but with you guy's do you run away and scream?

LMFAO pretty much duck and cover..... Actually the threat of a runaway or signal loss occurs much less often with aircraft as opposed to surface vehicles.

Damn I want one of these so bad. But I would have to practice on a small one first. I have been reading some of the run times for the electrics and they are terrible. Like 8 minutes is so long. Why has the industry turn so much against Nitro? Or even gas. I love the gas up and go thing and maybe having one extra battery for the receiver

I got my BladeCX2 so high I lost signal with my spectrum unit. Started to flutter down and my heart sped up. Caught it about half way down and got it under control right before its softer landing. Broke the dang new landing gear I just put in. Ya, I've crashed a few times.:D Little thing cant handle much more then simple flying.:o

I think mainly the move to electric is because of the expense of nitro and gas helis. If you go gas install an alternator and you will never have to worry about charging rx battery.

That sucks. Were you using a full spectrum setup or just a module/RX?
I have used several radio types for airplanes and have always had the best luck with Futaba radios.
