I just bought one of these Blur gas tank vent filter and would like to hook it up to my gas tank cap. I also bought a perry check valve because I see some are installing them to prevent gas from coming out during a roll over.

My question is with the perry check valve, should I now remove that small plunger piece in the stock gas tank cap? I'm confused with how the stock gas cap works? Thanks as always!

The stock gas cap has a built in vent that alot of times fails or gets clogged the small "plunger" parts your talking about is part of the vent if you use a aftermarket vent then you only need to make sure that the cap seals to the tank with a flat gasket thats gas resistant when I installed my vent I just used the plunger for the gasket and cut a circlein the center of it

Chevy... thanks for the response. Is their any way possible that you could post a picture of it?

So to my understanding then is you want the gas tank to be able to vent excess pressure right? So if I installed a check valve to prevent gas coming out during a rollover wouldn't it act the same as a clogged vent opening in the cap? If it was set so that no gas could escape, it also means no pressure could get out either.

I would'nt use the check valve you need the tank to vent both ways in and out if you build presure you will flood the motor all you need is a barb fitting in the cap 3in of tubing then filter then 3in more tubing like this

No im saying the cap needs to seal onto the tank if you install a aftermarket vent I use a pitbike billet check vavle, as your motor uses gas it creates negative pressure in the tank the check valve I use lets air into the tank to replace the gas thats used my valve lets air in but once its turned upside down it closes and no gas leakes out of it Ill try get a few pics later tonight

Thanks for the pics and info racetruck. Did you remove your plunger in the cap after you put that nipple in?
