Gear plate removal?

I can't for the life of me get the gear plate off my XT. I removed the 3 bolts on the front, the 4 underneath and the 2 on top and I still can't remove it. The gears are off and just the shafts are there.


It feels at though it will come off if I force it, but then I can't see how I would get it back on if I did that.

I just went through this. The shafts are easy to shear so be careful when tightening the nuts. I found out the hard way.

I took a small claw hammer & put the claws behind the edge of the right side of the gear plate & gently but firmly rocked or "walked" the edge off.

I'm not that brave. Did it go back easy?

I found if the pinion bearing is out of the plate it helped, still tight.

Worst case loosen the motor mounts a bit.

I got it out, loosened up the diff gear plates a bit and used a flat blade screw driver. Clutch and spring are fine. Just waiting on my part now. Thanks everyone.
