Hi there community.

New here and also new to RCs. Jumped all in with a 1:5 scale baja buggy 30cc 2-stroke. I want to protect the running gear with some sort of lubrication so that it will last a bit longer. The car sometimes go through shallow water and then everything is wet so protecting everything is a bit of a concern.
What is the best here...motor grease used to seal bearings, spray on lithium grease for motorcycle chains, WD-40 penetrating oil to cover a lot of surface and prevent water ingress. It is actually two fold - protect against normal wear and tear and also moisture. I believe I have some mild steel components in the suspension and driveshaft and those will probably rust if not treated.

Any advise will do and I hope it is consistant and I did not open a can of worms with a thousand opinions. Opinions break cars :)

basically wash off but protect the electrics/air filter, blow off with air line if you have one, wd40 the whole car and wipe down (y),
dogbone/cups use red anf tacky grease or similar, non petroleum based cos it can affect the cup boots,
then just general servicing, replace or upgrade when sommat breaks , shock oils diff fluid, replace bearings as they wear out, re oil air filter as needed etc etc ,
welcome to the forum as well (y)(y):D

If you replace the bearings always make sur you get rubber sealed ones.
You'll find what you need at your local bearing shop much cheaper than the hobby store.
Just make sure you get industrial rated ones.

Think most of use use WD40 and GT85 spray after washing to prevent rust and lubricate everything. I also put a little drop of 3in1 oil on the ball joints and pins. Other than that exactly as Spents says.
If its just dusty blow it down rather than getting it wet.
